So far I was preparing optional on my own, I was looking to join coaching for it ; however in vajiram my ethics teacher said optional will be removed this year, he advised me not to.do so. Does anyone have any news in this regard, are optional getting removed this year as new committee is also formed?

i was a vajiram student and attended only few of his classes cause i didn't like them but 1 thing i would like to mention is that he 'did' predict with confidence that for 2015 prelims csat would become qualifying and GS would be more current and factual in december 2014 during 1 of his classes... this is definitely sheer coincidence but i will admit that his instinct is good...

Sirji aap kiski bar kar rahe ho agar pavneet ki kar rahe ho to pichle 2-3 sal se kehta tha ki kabhi bhi pattern change ho sakta h GS par focus rakho CSAT k bharose mat baitho aur last tak ate ate bolta tha ki is bar dekh lena pattern change ho rha h..wo uska takiya kalam h and sub guess work hota h jab tak UPSC khud notify nahi kar deti tab tak all are rumors..
upsc usually goes for a major overhaul after 10 years or so n since it has already done one in 2013, changes r unlikely this year. They can't just wake up one day and strike away the optional as per their wish. The new committee has also not hinted any such thing. Also they will have to provide substitute for the optional paper. All this take time. So chances r less. Don't waste ur time on speculations, even if such a thing happens it will b a change for everyone and like everyone even u can change ur strategies then. As for now keep studying the optional.
