Discuss the challenges involved in tackling black money issue. Do you think the new law enacted can effectively tackle the issue of black money?
new law is a white wash...not much teeth in it...black money issue will be solved when tax structure is better and enforcement agencies r technologically equipped to deal with complex ways of money laundering...iss baar opinion dena hai..so no diplomatic answer..
Law doesnt cover nri... it doesnt cover the black money inside the country... it doesnt have a mechanism for detection of black money... only if black money is detected then they will take action...but no proper mechanism to detect it... secondly sebi needs to take more action to reduce the use of p-notes and monitor gdr as well. It has reported that gdr and p-notes are being used for round tripping of black money. Many people use p-notes just to avoid paying security transaction tax. Then we need to reduce tax terrorism. Reduce taxes and introduce gst asap. Thirdly pmla was amended to introduce the concept of reporting entity in banks which suspect money laundering transactions. As has been seen in usa HSBC has been very liberal at reporting suspicion transactions.. rbi has also conducted an enquiry on this but report hasnt been released. Nevertheless banks need to be made accountable for reporting such transactions to FIU ... thirdly for detection state level agencies with ED as a nodal agency should be introduced.
