Women reservation bill

During last UPA govt. When president was women(pratibha patel) , LS speaker was women (meera kumar), Leader of opposition was women(shusma swaraj)...president of rulling party was a women (sonia gandhi).. Then also women reservation bill was not passed..??
What is the reason, that women when coming in power herself shows reluctancy against women empowerment.

  • Actually it's all politics. Samajwadi party , RJD etc were supporting UPA. They almost vetoed this good intentioned bill. X(
  • why is this good intentioned? can u give reasons??? hw women reservation in parliament is gotin to help the cause of women? we have this in our panchayat elections, but do u know what happens there?women are getting elected but all the work is done by their husbands. why this is so?? and even after this drawback u want it in parliament??

Good intentioned because it will uplift women n bring them on par with male counterparts. Now talking of sarpanch patis, it's true that women are rubber stamps in many cases but still they get involved in policy making. Slowly they understand things and also give advice n in later stages influence policies.

I agree that in random cases it's futile but still we cann;t dismiss it as mere tokenism.
