  • During summer, the region of mediterraean climate are dominated by subtropical high pressure cells. The subtropical highs are areas of sinking and settling air from higher altitudes which tend to build up atmospheric pressure. With dry sinking air capping a surface marine layer of varying humidity and making rainfall impossible or unlikely except for the occasional thunderstorm. while during winter the polar jet stream and associated periodic storms reach into the lower latitudes of the Mediterranean zones, bringing rain, with snow at higher elevations.thats why Mediterranean Climate have cold wet season.and dry summer season
i am still confused thoda non-technical language mein explain kardo Jacky saar
  • During winter the apparent movement of aun towards the tropic of Capricorn shifts the wind belts and the Mediterranean region comes under influence of westerlies. These blow from west to east and they are onshore winds with respect to Mediterranean regions. Hence rainfall during winters.
