Honestly, these relatives of mine are really getting on my nerves. The way they speak, it's as if they're having to bear my expenses. All of them have been pathetic under-achievers. I guess, some of them don't want you to do better and out-do them.

Though the bold section is true...but i presume they themselves are not aware of it.

They aren't. They're too deluded in their notion that what they're saying is 'out of concern.' Unfortunately, they don't realise what they're actually concerned about - our well-being, or their ego.

    ^^ Generally speaking -

Of course, most of them are clueless about what civil servants do, or have twisted notions, or have no idea about civil services beyond the 'sarkari babu' image. Many of them even have disdain towards it. But when they finally realise what it is, they keep coming to you for help. People like me - first generation aspirants - really have a tough time convincing people. Thankfully, not everyone is ignorant and often someone in the family ends up supporting you.

But the idiots keep bugging you. Their curiosity is directly proportional to their distance on the family tree as well as the time intervals at which they come over. The free advice is never-ending. Finally you realise that you're speaking to idiots and stop trying to convince them. Best strategy is avoid mixing with them or just smiling and leaving asap.
