It is wrong to compare western ghats and eastern ghats, they are not complimentary to each other. The chronology of formation of both are entirely different. EG are relic mountains, they are the oldest mountains of India for that matter, while WG are formed due to the subsisdence of the western edge of peninsula. So to say that WG are parallel but EG is not, is not a right comparison, they are where they are due to different reasons.

Why Eastern Ghats aren't equidistant from eastern coast whereas Western ghats are both parallel and equidistant to western coast ?
