The trend of startups

These days students from premier institutes like IITs and IIMs are jumping into the bandwagon of 'Startups'. All sorts of websites from selling food parcels to laundry are being started. Only a handful of these are successful and many of them are not even able to break even. Are we losing the best brains of our country to these startups who could have been doing something more worthwhile instead?

  • Har tuchchi cheez k liye thread bana dete ho..maintain some decorum.
  • @BROKEN_HEART : The demographic dividend is wasting the fruitful years of their lives. It is a question about the future of our country. People aspiring to be future bureaucrats and policy makers need to be aware of the trends that our society is following. If that according to you is a tucchi cheez, then what us important for you?

Bhai purani opportunity to hain hi saath hi start up ke hone se new opportunities bhi generate hogi .
Aur fail toh duniya karti hain , har failure bahut kuchh seekha jati hain . Kab kaunsa startup TESLA ban jayega kisko pata .
  • @TABAHIIIII : This is exactly the kind of discussion I was looking for. I just wanted to know about the opinion from the other side of the spectrum.
  • guess which other activity is also causing a loss of demographic dividend and bright youths are wasting their "fruitfull" years behind something that only grants success to 1000 odd persons and above that is fuelling a multi million rupee business where most of the service provided is highly inflated and utter nonsense and are simply teaching a 10th of whats already given in the books. Now lets not forget the kiraydaari ka dhandha also being fuelled as bright students from all around the country are coming to delhi, living in semi humane conditions, spending their or their parents hard earned money.

10 lakh running for 1000 opportunities is better or trying to start a business in an untapped market with no fixed no. of entry points is better...khud hi laga lo kaun si cheez se desh ke bhavishya ko zyada khatra h :)
  • then what about people from IIT,IIM,AIIMS going for UPSC :) .
And then read history why IIT's were started in first palce it was exatly for the same reason.
  • Its fanatastic trend to see. Personally I am very happy to see so many young graduates have guts to start something new . We should look it as awesome opportunity to break the traditional notions of indian society which is intentionally 'job oriented'.
Starting new is itself a mesmerising exercise irrespective of it's success . I consider those kids far brave than those who land up in Orn to prepare any sarkari exam. They may appear unexperienced but at heart they are determined to take risk to build wealth along availing an easy life for common indian.
I see this trend far promising than anything happened to our society. Think of the day when our society start to value those who take risk , explore unexplored path against all odds. It will be easy for upcoming generation to lead their own life and do what they really want to do , even this trend succeeds marginally.
Best thing is at least as of now people are welcoming it and humble enough to pay heed their ideas. You see , india neer had been a financially poor country to invest. But , its our no risk taking tendency ' which doesn't allow us to break the traditionally set path (busniss) and try something new. These kids have been able to get funding from these marwaris who are sitting on huge wealth. So , eventually it would build up a additional busniss eco system which would definitely facilitate overall transformation of indian society and economy. :D
