Has anybody bought the above mentioned book? If so please share ur reviews about this book. Is this a helpful source for UPSC? Better than Bipan Chandra or not?
yes. it is 1000 times much better than bipin chandra's book.
but let me remind you it is not an easy book to read. bandhopadhaya is a brilliant historian and his language is not simple(not so tough for a grad to comprehend but not simple either). although if you finish this book you will never need any other book on modern india(freedom struggle)
every aspect is explained in such a brilliant manner that it gets embedded in your mind.
go for this book without giving it a second thought.
Yes... I am not going to compare this book other ones . It is totally different i mean all are giving information of same period but BandhopadhyayJi had expalined it in better way. N n many things in this book are given which you will not get in other authours... For e.g all writer start with 1857 revolt and its causes .... till independence. If u read bipin chandras n this one... definately u will see the difference ..

the second veersion is called Plassey to partition and Beyond. it is one extra chapter only. nothing too specific. buy the old edition. it's cheaper

Even Ramachandra Guha recommended this book. But no one from the coaching institutes and no one from the selected candidates recommended this for UPSC? Is this written for a general reader or for history students?
