Guidance on regimented approach for the exam : coaching

Hi friends,
I am a working professional and will be quitting job for case 2016, but due to some family obligations I won't be able to leave home.
My concern is that since i shall be preparing at home , so even though how much ever i try there is always a time where one needs evaluation.
i was planning to take vision 25 test starting from feb next year or rather their entire comprehensive course which is for 48000/-
I require some guidance from the seniors as well as others as to how to approach this exam from my point of view,
is this vision course worth going or i should join some online course, if any i missed out pls mention that as well.

@t-rex I myself am a novice.. I appeared in cse mains 2014 last year but didnt appear this year..myself also targetting cse 2016. What i have learned through all this time that cse is full of uncertainity and with hard work it requires some luck factor also. One thing that definitely helps is regular reading of THE HINDU without fail preferably making your own notes out of it. Next is reading yojana and kurukshetra plus some monthly compilation of current affairs which many institutes offer like vision or magazines like civil service times.
Next thing is reading basic books of ncert and some extra standard books like laxmikanth, bipin chandra. For economy many people like to read ramesh singh or sriram but this i think is wrong approach..one should preferably read ncert economics and some good economic newspaper like business standard or hindu business line for some time and search in wikipedia unknown terms.
For ethics lexicon assisted by some coaching institute compilation will do.

Vision ias mains test series is good and will benefit provided one sticks to its schedule and give exams not waiting for perfection. There will never be perfection.
