As i was going through mains syllabus of general studies...I found myself under the cloud of dilemma over relevant study material of some topics..as these are also pertinent from the point of view of prelims..I need some help from seniors who can help me out in guiding the right study material for the following topics..
1. Indian culture will cover the salient aspects of Art Forms, Literature and Architecture from ancient to modern times.
2. The Freedom Struggle - its various stages and important contributors /contributions from different parts of the country.
Thank you

my opinion/what i am doing ...(as a social media firaand)
1. Indian culture will cover the salient aspects of Art Forms, Literature and Architecture from ancient to modern times. haven't done this part so far but it is no different from previous syllabus so same
2. The Freedom Struggle - its various stages and important contributors /contributions from different parts of the country. Bipan Chandra only. Just that i will do harder work of paying attention on these particular aspects
for freedom struggle- bipan chandra's indias struggle for freedom old ncert book
dig into d forum u wl find bipan chandra soft copy..
Art and culture part is becoming uncertain day by day and from my experience i can tell you in the end no body even look at this important portion (as lot other things to be covered). So i thought i will prepare this before prelims.
As books like spectrum and others are also becoming irrelevant from the present trend of UPSC .I am expecting some basic material to be referred.
1. Download/print/get last two years question papers of CSAT
2. With an open mind write the paper of CSAT 2011 without marking anything on the question paper
Do not see the answers to each question on the question paper. Just mark answers on OMR/white sheet as right or wrong by seeing any key
3. See how much you score you get. In the real exam you would need around 120+ in CSAT
4. Say you get 70-80 marks, list down the "types" of questions you got wrong
5. Buy ANY ONE of the two books I have given here - http://forumias.com/discussion/comment/20265#Comment_20265
(You can even use your banking books, but the above books are specifically written for CSAT)
6. Study first those things, and solve at least 30 questions on those topics
7. Study for 3 days, and again write the same paper. (As I had said before, do not see the answers to questions) See how much your score has jumped.
8. Re-do again, until you score 110-120 in the CSAT 2011 paper
9. Do the same with CSAT 2012 paper. Share your score here.
In 10 days you should have finished the two papers as well as done 20-30 questions each on the topics you are weak at.
Will tell you what to do after you've done the above.
