how to improve writting skills?

Hii all
Please guide me how i improve my writing and english
I cant even write down morw then 2,3 lines on any topic e.g

Critically discuss the impact of urbanisation on children in India. (200 Words)

Above question is of insight current 26 june
I cant even write on this simple topic
In school days "ratta mara and likha" and in college kuch bhi likha related to that topic marls agye but this think will not work in case of upsc
Many people suggest read the question take help from internet
I do the same
But didnt work

so plz suggest me any way for beginner like me

See, to be able to write on a topic think of it feom different dimensions- like political, economic, social, cultural etc. I think you are not able to mobilize ideas, which is natural in the begining. Try writing and thinking abt a topic on these dimensions it will help. @sankalp_sharma15

Second ==> read from additional references for mains specially. Like for society topics you can use ignou pdfs, internet, etc
Third ==> Read diverse articles daily. Read TH daily at least. Read a lot and your English writing and speaking will improve a lot.

You can't write unless you know something. I think by this time you should know what UPSC wants. You have been into it since long now.

Above all is well-intended, and nice. However, we all know many who do up all above and fail to present the knowledge so-gained in the right manner when the time comes. Articulation is half the game in mains. Practice writing, using words to their right meanings and forming simple but effective sentences.

Exactly. Articulation skills are must. But it hardly takes 3-4 mains tests to get things right for a well learned guy. Imagine a guy answering question on communalism after reading just 2-3 articles. Opinions and content competency are equally important. It cannot develop overnight. Infact i place them over writing practice after the changes scenario in mains where we have to write 4000 words per hour. We can get away by simply writing bullet points with short intro and conclusion for 5 markers. As far as writing practice is concerned, it helps increasing our speed, structure of answers.
