Vision IAS classroom programme review

edited June 2015 in Miscellaneous
I am planning to join it's classroom programme.
I know self study is the key but want something for year long engagement as preparing full time and don't want to lose momentum in between?
What I am looking for is a coaching that can personal attention and guide accordingly.
Like a mentorship.
Is there any other way of achieving this? (except coaching)
Don't have friends as such so group study is improbable.
2016 is my final attempt (so that people take my post seriously) :P

  • Anyone here??
  • Third successive mains failure has taught me this...
Most of the people fail in the mains stage because they have not mastered the optional. By mastery i mean having the high priority source like coaching institute notes etc on your finger tips. After this comes solving all the previous years question papers. Writing answers to all the questions is imperative. Also we need to self evaluate our answers and try to evolve a multidimensional viewpoint. Also the mains GS syllabus i.e both the conventional and dynamic parts need to be well prepared. You need to have synopsis prepared for this, so make a brief note of everything you read. After this atleast 300 GS answers need to be practiced.Insights secure mains series can help with the questions. Self evaluation and multidimensional viewpoint are again very important here. The basic idea is that 'after reading the question you should be able to prepare a rough outline in your mind and then translate that outline into a good answer'.This process can be significantly quickened if you have done adequate practice. If you manage to complete the above process before you start your final prelims preparation i.e say 2 or 3 months before the prelims date then in all likelihood you can top the mains or worst case scenario will atleast clear the cut off.
Now you are a senior player so i guess you already know this then why did i type all this ? Perhaps it was my way of reiterating it to myself the lessons learnt from my failures so dont mind please.
Joining the class room coaching i think will be a good idea as you can get your answers reviewed because peer review and teacher review can also be as important as self evaluation. Also studying full time will take its toll so classroom might just offer that excuse to get out and make learning a social experience.
More than class room coaching if you can get to know someone who has appeared in the interview , then collaborating with him may be a better option. Also I think test series is a better option than full time class room coaching. Good luck.
  • @Pampa that's why i am planning to join weekend batch so that i have rest 5 days with me .
also have been preparing for last year from home but kind of lost momentum in between .
guilt and procrastination taking toll on health , disproportionate weight gain.
i don't have any contact as such so coaching is the only way of getting guidance.
biggest disadvantage of studying l=alone is assessment as self assessment can be illusionary.

can you suggest a time frame for covering different areas or subjects /papers . ?? like you suggested for answer writing ??
    :)
  • Sorry brother no concrete plan as of now. Actually I am totally busy these days with kpsc mains exam. Will be mentally free after september. Will focus on upsc only after that. This year giving upsc a miss. Good luck again.
  • all the best to you too .
    thanks for replying !! @Pampa
