@IAS_passion I am not talking about faults of your childhood my bro, I was trying to tell u that u believe upsc is fault-less and that is not true.
Anyway, its not for me and u to judge about upsc sitting in our homes.. Let the result come and everything will be clear. All the best for u :)>-
even i said the same thing.....u nly gave judging remark...and now saying u cannot judge in ur home.....all the best to u too juhee
  • Off discussion but could anybody tell me how to apply for ignou masters ..ignou site is so lousy and prasad one can expect from prof David
  • And who is juhee Singh
  • @ShiningknightofUPSC Dude do u really believe in these myth of stress and non-stress interviews etc getting conducted in the interview hall and that the interviewers are trained psychological professionals who can correctly asses a candidate's personality by varying their styles of conducting interviews to bring out the candidates "true thoughts" as u say ???
Well, if someone had told me the same story before my interview I would have pondered over them but right now its just plain clear that those conducting interviews don't know anything about how to conduct a civil services interview! They are just as clueless as we are and fire some random questions looking at our DAF like how coaching institutes do in mock interviews all across Delhi and try to send the candidates out as soon as possible! In my interview, M3 was trying to ask some Public administration related questions but the way he was putting the questions suggested that he had little idea about the answers himself! He may have studied it some 20 years back but that doesn't mean he had a commanding hold over the subject even now.. He appeared hopelessly under-prepared to ask pub ad based questions and was fumbling in between... When I asked for clarifications regarding his question, he was simply going to the next question instead of making his previous question more clear.. It may be hard to digest for some guys here, about the allegation I am making that the members inside interview hall had inadequate knowledge, but that's what I honestly felt.
Its simply a legend spread far and wide by both successful and un-successful candidates about the famed upsc interview, giving all kinds of special effects to it as if its some form of a divine process which is beyond the scope of understanding of a normal aspirant.
I had similar experience with M Singh panel.

A person was trying to ask some stuff from History ( my optional) but he was really not sure about them and when I asked for making it clear , he quickly changed over to next question.,

I feel one should give it all for mains as it accounts for 87 % approx so much so that Interview remains a formality . But its debatable given the fact the average quality of GS marking. But neverthless mains remains the key.

  • If you are somewhere in Bangalore, I would be more than willing to accompany u to a movie!! :D
    Heropanti? :P

    Hws that muvi? :D
Tiger Shroff has acted well.. I don't know why people are making jokes on her :D
n she must be dating Saunf Ali Khan!
    :))

    13 :!! 3:-O
  • Interview a formality? No. Even though it accounted for only 13% of the maximum marks, around 25% of the marks actually received by candidates came from the interview last year. It's the diciest part of the exam, methinks, what with its unpredictability and a score range of 150. Esp. in anticipation of a low mains cutoff, the interview will play kingmaker.
  • I feel interview is just luck. I mean, what if I were allotted to another board? How do they decide which board gets to interview whom? How do they decide on which day who goes to interview? And to think our 40 years of service is decided by everything so absolutely subjective and random!! And to top it all, the board and their attitude. I read a few posts about how stress interviews are good but if you observe, some boards are reputed for this and some boards never take that route. So, does UPSC decide which candidate gets which board based on his/her DAF? That doesn't really make sense (or maybe it does). Or do the members huddle privately before each session and pick two candidates they are going to grill?

I have seen last years' marks and there are people who wouldn't have been in IAS if it wasn't for the interview. And I know for a fact that two people who scored 240 aren't really that impressive in regular conversations. No, this isn't sour grapes talking. There should be some criteria for awarding marks - presentation, diction, coherence, spontaneity. People give 3-10 years of their life to this exam and all we get in return is a marksheet leaving all the questions unanswered.

  • @amrutha- agree with everything you said. Btw what board did u have last time n what did they give you? And what board this time?

I cant be more agree then this ... After good academics.. Job exp ... reading truck load of boks in last few yrs ..burning midnight oil for your precious few year of life ultimately things were decided by some RANDOM 30 MINUTES ....where there is no correlation what you have done and what you expect from life ...isnt it wrong to have few boards hell bent on proving tht the guy sitting infrront of 5 gentle person is a big IDIOT ...i think they get some kind of sadist pleasure in doing this ..where some borad just limit themselve to normal chit chat how these two case would result into a good assesment of one's personality ... Here one guys gets grilled on 100 C thn other gets cool breeze irrespective of anything
FInally all your desire ..hardwork..time..money ..and ultimately life just depends whom do you see in the in
    the interview board
is it some guy who is cordial makes you feel at home and you discuss India's social ,Economic and political problem or its someone who is more interested to ask things which is nowhere related to you and job we all are aspiring to achieve and things which tht person himself searched on google during interview
