when i was in 7th or 8th class reading comprehensions were introduced to us for the first time.in the first class on reading comprehension my teacher said few things to us--- 1.never answer anything not mentioned in the passage. 2.read word to word with focus on interjections and prepositions too 3.forget whatever u know about the topic beforehand.
but some "new methods" suggested above go against all the above principles .i realise today how valuable my first lecture on RC s in 7th class was. the short cut methods suggested above will result in negative marking and nothing else until and unless one is damn good at tukka.better to leave the passage if less time or attempt less questions rather than going for such short cut tools.
Buddy it shows how good your RC is! I never mentioned: 1) Not to read whole RC 2) Skip if and but 3) don't understand the gist of RC. What I was mentioning again and again was 1)To have more speed with the help of few keys first which we can get by looking questions for 30 sec. 2)In that way we know which details to read very fast like figures and other things... where to stop and read slowly to answer. Rest details we don't need to go in depth. We are not doing research there. 3) Of course the whole RC has to be read but in an effective manner taking less time and allocating that time some where else. It is pretty much understood now why most of the people take 3-4 hrs to read THE HINDU which can be done in 1-1.5 hr max and then 30 mins for your own notes or analysis. If such lethargic way of reading will happen of course it will take 3 hrs. This is not just for RC but good reading speed is required everywhere .Nothing offensive. But I couldn't stop myself on seeing u guys deducting any kind of conclusion which I never mentioned.
friend my RC may be bad,but not as bad as someone's who is unable to comprehend what he himself wrote. i didnt want to be precise but will quote one line of yours which can be the worst advice to someone seeking help in RCs- i quote- "In spite of all of the above points even if you get short of time and if some RC comes which is related to the field you know like Net neutrality, spirituality which have fixed type of answers you can directly attempt the questions based on your knowledge."
anyways.we may have different opinions.it may have worked for u,but most of the times it will result in negative marking.thats just my opinion.i have full privilege to be wrong.

100% agree with your method n approach . Shortcut method doesn't work in pressure cooker situation.
