Hey guys.. m having problem in reading comprehension .. Plz tell how to increase efficiency..
Follow these steps: 1. Never think that if you ll read slowly it ll increase your efficiency. 2. If there are 5 questions in an RC, max time should be 8 min to solve that. Ideal time is 5 min (Valid for medium level/easy level RC as asked in UPSC) 3. First go through starting 1-2 questions in 15-20 sec to have an idea of questions. 4. Now start reading RC and quickly come to that point where Q-1 is asked. 5. Slow down little bit and find the answer. 6. Go ahead and read next question. Solve all the questions in this way maintaining the speed and accuracy.
In spite of all of the above points even if you get short of time and if some RC comes which is related to the field you know like Net neutrality, spirituality which have fixed type of answers you can directly attempt the questions based on your knowledge. For me it always works. Like for net neutrality, just try to know whether the author wants net neutrality, if yes then all the answers will be standard like to promote new entrepreneurs etc but if answer is no then means author is giving some points against net neutrality and in that case you may have to read the whole RC. Most stupid method ever ..never follow it... Question are not arranged as per the para...u may find answer to 1st one in last and last one in 1st ...read the whole passage very carefully and mark words like and but not because if etc ...u should fully understand the passage by the time u finish reading it and know which words are where in the paragraph ..now read the questions and go back to para and answers ..

By increasing speed I meant just skim through lines till you reach the main point. Now the question is what is main point? That you will get once you read the question. It will help you skipping few unnecessary lines which don't need much attention. Regarding LR can you specifically tell what topic you are asking because LR includes a lot of things like series, Conclusion- deduction etc.

You told nothing new, she must be doing that already. I never said questions are arranged as per para. The whole point is to look questions in 30 sec and get few key points which u need to read with detailed attention. By reading RC , going back to questions and again coming to RC and repeating this process till infinity and getting lost is premature method which 90% of people follow and solve 5 questions RC in 10-15 min. Don't mind but we never try to accept any new idea. By the way the method I told works for me 100% of the times with 95% accuracy in RCs. I am not praising any method here but simply telling what works for me. As some one already said here that Practice is the key. But believe me solving 20 questions RC in 35-40 mins is just a waste of time and you can never get 180+ in apti following average methods. PEACE!

And I got 190plus ...u. May be using ur method and doing it but that's not the correct way of going about it..that way one can never understand the meaning of passage ..after reading passage carefully, one can easily answer questions ..it doesn't take long... Point is reading carefully with complete focus and looking at key words plus all , none if and but.. Anyway ..leave it.. We can agree to disagree

I'm not much confident on English comprehension passages to fetch good score....
