Preparation for 2016 ( self study +coaching + discussion etc)

Hello everyone
For those guys who are about to start their preparation for 2016 or already started please join the discussion and let's help each other in every possible aspect .e.g how to kick start preparation , which institute to join , how to maintain balance b/w coaching and self study , struggling with THE HINDU ,how to make notes etc.

  • @principessa_17 I started with NCERTS to get the basics of general studies as i am from science background and don't know much about polity ,history ,Geo etc and now planning to join coaching.

  • Hello , I too appearing for 2016 and from mid may starts my preparations by studying ncerts , count me in group.
    list of books i am going to follow

    1. Geography - Ncert 6-12
    History -tamil nadu 11 th
    Polity directly laxmikanth and in between ncerts
    Economy - 11 12 ncerts and then direct ramesh singh

    What should be the ideal time needed to complete these books . Plus i need to work on my english and vocabulary which is poor , sonhow to improve it.
    P.S - I am going to take Electrical Engineering as my optional , so doing EE side by side.
  • @HOODAVIVEK For vocab you need to read a lot of things .or generallg teachers suggest a book name "word power made easy "by: Norman lewis
    I can't say about time required to complete these books as it vary from person to person and depends upon many factors like reading speed ,how much time u r taking to understand the things etc

    - Geography 6-12 is unnecessary. I have gone through them, I would suggest you do 11th, 12th and GC Leong
    - TN Books for History are really good
    - Laxmi is the holy grail for polity, I started with NCERT though did not complete them
    - Went through Ramesh Singh, its good only if you understand the basics, for a beginner the language might be difficult to get used to, used the GKT Material, was awesome
