Is anyone joining classes for Interview Preparation?

edited February 2013 in Interview Preparation
Well i was just wondering if is it advisable to join any classes for interview preparation before the results are out.
Just came across an advertisement by ALS in the Hindu and the last date for registration is today by 6pm.

(This is my first attempt.)

  • they are taking just 1 mock interview
    thats y i m nt joining it

    other coachings are still sleeping
    :D
  • Is it? But d adv says some 15 magical hours of learning @-)
  • @Pragati
I suggest not making any move right now. Once the result is out, there will be plenty of people offering interview classes (in the hope that later when you get through they can use your success to advertise their class). So the last date is only a marketing gimmick.

I myself intend to join interview classes (as I scored a paltry 150 last year), but will look for a class only after the result.
  • @ asg
    Thanks ya :)
U r right.. Let me know when u decide to join any interview classes (provided i clear mains).
Btw any idea about result.. Even on d forum there r contradictory posts about d tentative date :(
  • Yesterday's news was that they are saying it will be out only next week - 19th/20th. However, some people believe that it can come out this week itself..

Nobody knows for sure. We should keep calling UPSC!
  • Ohk! I wish UPSC had a fixed date for result like they have for CA/CS exams.
    Thanks asg.
  • @Pragati i am ex ALS student and studied geography from Shashank Atom Sir...as far as i know...that module is not exclusive for IAS interview....some people called his classes boring but for me his classes were always interesting as i find it unconventional because he gave emphasis on introspection and self evaluation.......i took his personal help in essay writing which was just a favor and he really came out and helped me to get better insight of writing and invoked confidence in me.....i don't think any classes will not directly help you to crack interview..... if you are not doing any big deal in that time attending his class is not a bad option......
  • @slyth123: ohk..thanks ya!
As of now i have decided to wait for d result plus the adv said u need to confirm registration before 6 @-) But from wht u say it seems his class can be useful. Shall join if i make it to the interview.
  • @Pragati welcome!!!..... its totally your prerogative....
Even i have not registered....but i will go there tomorrow.....actually because of notification delay i am not able to concentrate ........so much of hue & cry %-( ........also i am waiting for result of Engineering Services written exam along with CSE Mains Result thus some diversion will be beneficial...... :)
Best of luck for your result!!!
  • seriously guys, how helpful are these classes for interview prep? do they teach some factual stuff? or general tips like keep smiling in the interview.. dont panic etc?
