The only way to loose fat is by a calorific deficit.I do 0 ab workouts yet have lost an inch on my waist.Weight/fat loss is 80% diet and 20% training.Just follow a good diet plan, use apps like MyFitnessPal for calorie counting and ur good to go.Rem it requires almost 1100 cal deficit to loose a kg of weight.

  • Are there any budget gymms in Karol Bagh/ Rajinder Nagar area ?
  • Hello all,

    Good thread, for a change...
I want to suggest an app called HealthifyMe (available on all app stores) that will help you in achieving your fitness goals.

PS: I am in no way promoting these guys. Just wanted to apprise the junta out there of a helpful product that is purely scientific!
  • @Durkheim : It might be a beer belly. If not , such a belly is caused by an extended period of sitting or sleeping within 90 minutes after dinner.
    Let me explain.

Because of the nature of UPSC Prep (sitting to study after every meal or so).Our metabolism drops at a huge rate.Ideally we must work after consuming energy. But instead we sit down.So what happens is , that the reduced metabolic rate plus food post dinner = fat storage in belly.

You have to cut down your sugar intake. Not just plain white sugar but the sugar in fruits, cereals, yoghurt, vegetables.

High protein, less carb diet with some jogging and sprinting will do the trick.

    Why ?

Cause digesting protein is a tough task for the body.Needs to pep up the metabolism to break down the amino acids. So protein + sitting = better solution.

    Other options

Do a HIIT in the middle of the day. When your meta is slow. You dont need to joina gym.Just do this:

40 sec on , 20 sec off, n rounds (n= number of rounds you can do before you want to kill yourself:

In ON: Jumping on spot , jumping jack ,mountain climbers, stepping on a pedestal and off it.

In OFF: rest (active rest: deep breathing , shaking your body parts)

Have a little bit of protein every three hours.

Boiled chicken., egg whites , protein shake(as supplement , not staple ) , boiled pulses, sproudts, broccoli etc.

Jogging is good but after a week your bod , being an adaptive organism , will get attuned to the movement , it will restructure itself in such a way that calorie expenditure to jog is the minimum. So you need to keep mixing what you do.Either increase your duration , distance on alternative days or incorporate weight training!
  • Any suggestions for setting right the sleep cycles....
