Geography optional vaale dosto ... need ur help For economic geography topics like transport , industry location , mineral location , energy sources ... suggest a book by indian author ...i have been reading "Economic and Social geography by RKnowles" but i need indian examples

Hi, I have been following this thread for uppcs upper. I am very confused about whether I should dedicatedly prepare for mains or next prelim. I am getting 91 from the answer key. My main optional is pol sci which I have some idea. Second optional i might take SW.
Now, how much time does SW prep require to get good marks?
And mera prelim nikalne ka kitna chance hai? Abhi kewal mains pe focus karun ya next prelim? upsc b dena next year uske liye b time dena padega.
R u female? Or General Male?

Even law students use dd basu as a reference book only just to understand doctrine of eclipse, doctrine of waiver etc. I mean who reads such a complex Bengali intellectual.
Where is doctrine of eclipse and waiver in DD basu which book are you taking about? You might be getting confused his other books! His intro to constitution is very nice book, it's not about Indian Polity (that is covered in Laxmikant) rather about constitutional provisions. So why to expect ki isme parliamentary committees and various statutory bodies et al. cover hoga?
I have never read any other book for Polity part except may be Our Parliament by Kashyap.
I agree it is a bit difficult to start with, but once one gets its style it is the best book to get introduced with constitution. Now a days, many abstract questions are being asked so it has its own importance too.
Excuse me but how can you know about my expectations with a book? First of all polity and constitution have different subject matters and interests. Rajyavavastha aur samvidhan alag hai...interrelated hai but bhut alag vishaye hai. Ofcourse it's a good book but not a suggested book for an ias aspirant..it's a good read for academic purposes...although it used to be choice for upsc aspirants...jab laxmikant pyarelal aur oth flooded materials nhi tha market me. Yes it's possible doctrines I mentioned might not be there in book but this book was used as a reference book along with jn pandey and bare act. It's good you read the book...you are brave indeed but once read the "about the book" on the back cover..you will get know for what this book was designed for.
What to excuse? Why are 'you' getting offended by that sentence, it was in general. Sorry if you misunderstood but after first sentence I was talking in general as ppl were discussing these two books here.
Why not a suggested one? Rather I would suggest only this book if someone asks me for recommendation. I got to know this book through Gaurav Agrawal blog when I started prep, and have always been thankful to him for this suggestion.
It's not solely written for UPSC exam PoV, that's the work of Laxmikant/MGH publication. A book for everybody in India and abroad who wants to know anything about the Constitution... that's how the About the Book is starting in 20th edition.
If you are not sure about the book's content then put the caveat in the message, otherwise it may put false impression on someone who may not go ahead with this book. I'm not complaining, just a suggestion.
And no its not reference! It's an Introductory book. For layman too.
And Rajya Vyawastha and Samvidhan sentence is redundant, I already said exactly that.

Itne chote words me likhi hai...refer krne layak hi hai wo book...I'm damnsure about its credibility...haa20th edition ki hi baat kr rhi....dushman ko bhi nhi suggest karungi ki dd basu padhke upsc do....aur haan Hindi bhasi ho agar up thread pe ho Bengali itni aasani se smjh nhi aate...jitna ki bta rhe ho..!! Last year ka paper dekh ke mujhe to zaruri laga nahi... Vision hi karlo but make sure 2 saal ka..
vision, insight vagarah uppsc ke liye bhi chahiye hota hai kya???.....first serious attempt of uppsc it would be .....last attempt of upsc fisished in 2017.....
