There is another issue, i've heard (from not so reliable sources) that Maha cadre tends to favor officers from home state (that is original Marathis). Now that is the case in Punjab, but is it the same in Maharashtra too?
Bhai mujhe Punjab and other North Indian states ke baare mein zyada idea nahi , kyonki North India se mera kabhi koi relation raha nahi hai ...Isliye Punjab yaa Haryana yaa Delhi ke baare mein main kuch bhi nahi jaanta hoon..
Rahi baat Maharashtra ki to I am 100 % sure ki Maharashtra and Gujrat ( Mere bahut sare relatives Gujrat and Maharashtra mein rehte hain , isliye in dono states ke baare mein acche se jaanta hoon main ) mein aisa kuch bhi NAHI hota hai ...Maine khud dekha hai ye sab to , isliye is baare mein zara bhi chintit nahi hona chahiye ....

@gladiator_upsc15 One of the best cadre to serve the nation.Lifestyle at its best ,people intellectual level will be high.No prob of accommodation ,vehicle & other things.Seniors helpful hai kafi sath leke chalte hai ,chote cadre hai.
Bhai, my source of info is an in-service dude (2-3 years)...Only talked to him once (through mutual introduction),,
For ias:
1) People generally don't prefer it because of Delhi. The thing is there is too much power struggle and multiple centres of power when it comes to administrative work. Silver lining is Chandigarh. 2) Family life is pretty much unstable. You never know when you might get a posting in north east areas and then again to north India and then again to Andaman. 3) One good thing is this is probably the only cadre where you get experience of working in urban areas, north eastern areas, island territories
For IPS:
1) I was told that people prefer it, but recent struggle in Delhi in ACB is a cause of concern. Eitherways, the reason he gave me was that here you do not work under the state government, and central govt. does not bother much, unless it is an extremely high profile case. So political pressure is very less
2) North east areas = good exposure to problems of insurgency, cross border terrorism.
This is what I have been told. Feel free to correct me

Bhai I beg your pardon , lekin agar ye sab cheezein suppose kijiye ki agar kisi ko NAA mile , maine kaha SIRF maan lijiye , to fir bhi usko CSE ki preparation karna chahiye kya ?

WB > OD > Bihar > UP > AGMUT ...
Agmut ka hai... Waise on a serious note ..bihar with the population of 10 crore and least in development, leaves an immense scope for civil servents to work there...
