Seniors one query.... is scientific calculator allowed in mains? as in CS notification it says,"Candidates will be allowed the use of Scientific (Non-Programmable type) Calculators at the conventional (Essay) type examination of UPSC. Programmable type calculators will however not be allowed and the use of such calculators shall tantamount to resorting to unfair means by the candidates". kindly suggest as it is my first time?

Q)Theory X and Y model reflects the attitude of the person in performing the task. How? Does these influences the selection of the leadership style? Explain with examples. ( unit 2 ‘’- paper 1, year 2013)
Answer) Theory X assumes that employees are naturally unmotivated and dislike working, and this encourages an authoritarian style of management. According to this view, management must actively intervene to get things done. An example is the time clock. You have to clock in partly because the management thinks you'll arrive late and leave early if you don't.
Theory Y expounds a participative style of management that is de-centralized. It assumes that employees are happy to work, are self-motivated and creative, and enjoy working with greater responsibility. Thus both theory reflect the attitude of the person in performing the task and influences the type of leadership. An example is an artist on contract to produce art. You tell the artist what you want done but you leave it to him/her when and how to do it as long as they produce what you want within your timeline. She can paint at 2AM for all you care - as long as you get art by the deadline.
