IRS vs IPS/IAS - Please Help!

Hi All,

This would be my 3rd mains this year (4th Attempt). For the first two times, while filling my DAF, I put IAS > IPS > IRS > IFS as my preference.
But, in the last two years, I have developed OCD, depression and mental fatigue. I did not attempt CSE 2017. Some friends recommended me not to put IAS/IPS as my top preferences. Hence, I am in a dilemma what to put now, given what I put the last 2 times in my DAF. Also, I am the only child of my single mother.

I request fellow aspirants for some suggestions regarding my dilemma.

Awaiting some fruitful replies.

Thank you!

Put IRS first, you will get more family time. Also you have higher chances to get IRS than IAS..so will be mentally satisfying. You will however have to justify before Board so be careful of that too.

Personally, i find IRS to be a much better life than IAS. My preference stands IFS > IRS > IAS > IPS

PS: I mean IRS (IT). IRS(C&E) is not that good, would be foolish it put it above IAS.

Thank you very much bro. Yeah, I will have to prepare for such a preference before the board. Got it, I will keep in mind these inputs.

Bro, If I am not wrong, your optional is Polsci right? I remember this name on IASBaba platform as well. Mine is polsci!

    Why depression/mental fatigue?

This is not the age ....will power se sb theek ho jayega. If u say.. I m not having anything there is nothing.

Zyda bhi medical categorisation main nhi jana chahiye. :)

Yes bro, I am trying. Actually I am on medication. But, as you said, I realised Will power is the most important thing and it's all in my brain. But, at times I feel I am out of control. But, any day and anytime, Will power is the deciding factor.
    Thanks bro, for reminding it.

    @Lord Vorminious

Any reason as to why C&E not that good vis-à-vis IT ?

IPS and IAS is far better than C&E. It's a field job, uniformed and often will land in very bad postings in border areas. It's a powerful service no doubt, unlike IT, but if you want power and prestige then IAS and IPS is certainly a better job for that. Nonetheless, C&E should definitely figure high in list if your pref is like IAS>IPS>C&E>IRTS etc etc.

For me, my work preference order is IFS>IRS(IT)>IAAS>ICLS etc etc.

This not always true bro. Will power will not help always. And it has nothing do do with being young in age.
I am also suffering from same problem.
In last 10 years I have mentally overexhausted myself.
Now I am unable to focus with same energy and dedication. I have cleared prelims this year but I find it difficult to study even 3 hours per day.
Earlier I had the capacity to study more than 12 hours per day on a regular basis.
    .
Will power will certainly not work for me now. It has worked for me in the last 10 years but everything has a limit.
    .
Yet 1st choice is definitely IPS, 2nd may be IFS or IRS.
    .
Only solution from this problem is to take break and go for a long holiday of atleast 6 months or even 1 year or more. Being free from all responsibilities and duties.
I am planning to take a break after this attempt if I don't get success.

    Good for you.
I too will look for a corporate job just after giving the mains. I don't want to prepare full time for this exam again. Already 26.
