@Zigong@Suraj95@Dexter2601@OptimusPrime@orangecounty Hi Guys, Need a suggestion regarding how to concentrate on studies effectively. Actually I am a working professional doing 9-6 job and after office hours I am not able to concentrate at all.. Trying to wake up early (Morning hours are almost 95% productive for me) but failed most of the time, sometimes at 4 but usually around 6-6:30 and barely 1 hr time remains.. Looks like internet and laptop are the most unproductive things in the evening. Need suggestion on 1. How to wake up early ? 2. Concentrate more on studies rather than other unproductive things (specially in the evening).. No library near my room else I will straight away go there and study ? 3. Making a plan but still not able to complete that repeatedly.. how to rectify these mistakes ?
Off the topic but need some serious help else upsc will be a far distant dream for me..
@w00t although u didn't ask me to reply fir bhi, i will hehe try using an app called cold turkey. it completely blocks all the apps(u can use it in morning hrs which are not so busy) . so u wont be able use ur phn during that time period. there is another app called productivity challenge timer which lets u set a target and u have to complete it in that period of time. it lets u know ur priorities and lets u complete those in time. ps: i am not a huge fan of cold turkey coz it blocks the whole device and u cant even make a call, but productivity challenge timer is helping me. i just started trying this app two days ago.u dont need an app if u have self control of not touching phn or pc for a period of time. try to reward urself ki if i study for 1-2 hrs in a go then only i will open my phn or pc. and it helps . really

A week ago we were also discussing the same thing on this thread.
Though I am also not able to study with full efficiency that I really want. But it's improving, slowly, now I am able to study for longer hours. But I can give few suggestions.
1. If you are not able to wake up early then study at night till 1-2 am and you can then get up by 8 am for office. 2. If laptop is the main culprit, then delete all entertainment stuff from your laptop like movies, TV series and just keep study stuff. That is why I prefer hard copies of books. It's less distracting. Connect your laptop to the internet only when you require, just disconnect it if you don't need it at that time. 3. Make daily targets initially. Then make weekly targets and try to complete at least 80-90% of the weekly target.
Deactivate your social media accounts if that is distracting you. I tried some android apps to reduce my phone usage like cold turkey as @prowess suggested (but hated it, can't make phone calls), pomodoro app and finally Forest app. I think forest app is better. Last thing, use your free time in office judiciously.
@w00t bhai although I'm a work in progress too but here are few things I wanna say 1. Don't try to sleep early if your body isn't habitual, study instead but if you really do try workout , I am using 'home workout' it takes 10-15 minutes and makes you really tired 2. Evening wala issue mere sath bhi h. What I do is study for 30 min/1 hour then 5/10 minute break , phone . Play a quiz or anything. 3. Someone here said on forum that tick the dates on your calender if the day is 'wholesome day' I'm trying that too , no ticks so far
I follow twitter accounts of IFSs whenever I feel low during studies I see the pics they have posted.
There's a days countdown widget on my phone's home screen so whenever I see my phone it keeps reminding me of this exam. Not the best way but work wonders for me
