1. In the compulsory part of Paper 1, there are quotations from three thinkers that are not part of the syllabus. These are Aurobindo Ghose, Bikhu Parekh and John Plamanetz. So do you base your answer on the statement alone or do you try to rope in who said it and in what context?
2. How do you decide during your preparation, or from experience, which questions are more scoring and should be attempted over the others. For example, in Paper 1, if you knew both equally well, would you attempt a question on the national commission of scheduled castes or rather a question on "How is liberty a precondition for equality? Explicate the relationship between equality and liberty"
3. To get a sense of the kind of answers and the points to include, I want to start a series where I post one question from the paper every few days and we discuss what we could write. Would that be welcome here? One thread per question, it gets hard to navigate through people's responses in a mega thread.
