Why Hadley cell is strong in presence of El Nino Southern Oscillation ?

Comments

  • I think Hadley cell is strong in eastern pacific region and weakens in western pacific region during ENSO :-?
  • @Black_panther89 : This is what when ENSO is present , what if it is not? I'm asking its effect on the cell, the effect which is not present in normal case. /:)

The anomalous atmospheric cells for the mature phase of ElNiño. During the mature phase of El Niño, both theWalker cell and the MZC are weakened. The anomalous Hadley cell in the eastern Pacific during the mature phaseof El Niño shows the air rising in the tropical region, flowing northward in the upper troposphere, descending in the mid-latitude, and returning to the tropics in the lower troposphere. The anomalous Hadley cell in the western Pacific has an opposite rotation as that of the anomalous Hadley cell in the eastern Pacific. So During El nino we can see that eastern pacific and western pacific headly cell works in two Opposite direction . tht’s why it is week in Elnino year than normal year .
