After giving Mains this year,I am not interested in reading Political Science anymore. I want an optional which should be techincal or scientific in nature,So I have decided to change the optional to Anthropology.
Therefore I request the anthropology optional students to give some pointers which would help me in choosing a right optional for me.

may I know the reason for the switch, PSIR was okay this time. PS grad and yet the switch :P
Anthro guys @Terminator - do rope in and help our friend Anthro 2nd paper is quite generic, only Paper 1 needs some specific study - but socio and anthro now a days are at the whims of the examiner for marks.
Technical and scientific - All Science subjects - Zoology, Physics, Maths but given Bio till X, you might not be able to cope with the rigor.
Maybe Psychology - has a little of both and syllabus is short but the evaluation is again at the discretion of examiner.
Being a Political Science Graduate my frank suggestion would be to stick your Present Optional though iam not aware of your reasons to shift.
My observations since 2 years on Anthropology:
2014: As far as scoring is considered this year the paper was very normal and very high scoring and anyone with decent 4-5 months self preparation would get magic marks and see their name in final list and most of the questions are picked up from syllabus directly. This is about this year paper.
2013: However, as per last year, Anthropology was tested on concept part rather than asking direct questions which required good knowledge on subject to score high marks. what I mean is certain questions are only answered by graduate students of Anthropology especially paper-2
Advantages for you if you take Anthropology:
1. I see you have interest in biology but Anthropology is divided into 3 parts as fallows:
A.Physical Anthropology---Scientific and biology part is advantage however, certain topics require immense mugging up, unfortunately this is true, if you have to score good marks.
B.Socail Anthropology---- Deals with Society, culture, religion, Political, Economic, Language which are not that scientific. Certain topics of social anthropology the information is not available on internet and only available in universities which has anthropology department.
C.Tribals--- If any digging-concepts are asked in future, this can be a pain in scoring high marks. Very limited information and research is done on Indian Anthropology and if one has to understand the real concepts it is time consuming and kills your time.
Well if you want to take a chance go for it, considering your limitations and reasons. I hope Iam not demotivating you but I gave the reality, the rest I will leave it to other advises and your conscience to decide.
Yes @Thor .. Anthro is a good optional. Many are expecting a 220+ score this year. And to add to above comments, the scope of research has been limited. So thatsy questions keep on repeating year after year. However it can be as tough as it was in 2012. Physical anthro is really interesting(and scoring). But thats just a part of paper1. Sometimes sociology teachers evaluate these papers and really ruin your marks..
