Some inspiring stuff & some really shocking stuff if true....

edited November 2012 in Miscellaneous
Through mrunals latest post on optional changes i found out that 2nd rank Rukmani Riar scored 199 in pre!! 1 mark more than the cutoff!

Roll No. Paper I (GS) Paper II (Aptitude)
Shena Aggarwal (Rank 1) 233541 110 156.68 267
Rukmani Riar (Rank 2) 27895 69.34 130 199
Prince Dhawan (Rank 3) 1804 95.34 146.68 242

Wow! This should inspire all aspirants. Compared to Sneha and Prince her marks in pre were not high. But she more than made up for this in mains.

Now i was reading the comments and clicked a site someone mentioned

Please tell me this is BS....otherwise heads will roll.

  • So now by seeing rukmini nairs....marks...it can be said that......focus should always be on mains....prelims is just a screening...!!
  • @Pranith... Bhai i feel otherwise :D ....looking at her marks , it makes one think that pre par bhi focus karo, 1 mark idhar udhar ho gaya to race se out. A future 2nd ranker could have been out of the race if she would have marked 1 wrong answer :|
  • Yeah.....woh be baat hain...!! @andy133
  • "In science it often happens that scientists say, "You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken," and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion."

People on forumias are really very rational. They agree to each other's views readily whenever they find argument rationally sound.
  • @robinolds I think it is one of the indispensable quality of a well educated person.

Looking at the FRAUD in UPSC website I am not all that surprised.
PS I had the similar experience.

  • @rm1 "Fraud in UPSC website"?
    Enlighten us !
  • I meant the website that was mentioned(the blog) of the concerned NGO by @IwannabeIAS
