Pls suggest which test series to join for Philosophy among Vision/Mitra/Vajiram...Vajiram has also started Philosophy TS but have no idea about how will be the evaluation and related parts, who will check and all that...Vision I have heard is good for GS. Kindly suggest!
Test Series for Philosophy has very limited options actually.
There are only two options: 1) Vision IAS 2) Mitra's
I saw the question papers of Vision. They are okay. They are well known for GS, not for philosophy. In fact GS is their monopoly in terms of distance learning. As far as philosophy is concerned, communication with the teacher is a pain in the ass, with phone calls and video calls. I wouldn't go for Vision , if I were you, especially if I was located in rajinder Nagar.
Patanjali does not have a real test series program because Dharmendra Sir handles both Hindi & English medium classes, and he isn't left with any time to do test series. Do not expect a teacher to check your answer papers. Least of all Dharmendra Sir himself. Not his fault though.
Mitras is good because of three ways - He actually checks the copies himself. He may be busy and lazy at times (most good teachers in demand are), but if you go to him, he will check your copy right in front of you, and will pinpoint the exact errors if any. This is especially helpful if you are a first timer.
If you at all join Mitrapal, and you are a bit clueless about Civil services prep as a whole, use the opportunity to take advice from him for gs also. He is a genuine guy who has appeared for interview and knows the process in and out.
P.S. I have not joined his test series, but two of my closest friends did join him, and were very satisfied with Mitras. One of them made it to the IAS in 2013.
I hope this should address your query and confusion @vasu

thnx a lot bhai for much needed reply! u solved all my doubts...thnx a ton!
@vasu If vajiram still has sumit nandan correcting answers go for him. He's good. I can vouch for him. An acquaintance got rank 70 a couple of yrs ago after joining his philo classes post prelims(yes post prelims). I'd personally dissuade you against joining Mitra but that's just my opinion. Nandan has atleast got his fundas spot on esp for paper 1, teaches at Hindu college.
@shreyaa Few years back, the marks in Philo used to be good Now just everyone is hovering around averag 200ish +/- 10
Right now, I am a lot concerned about Paper 2 where my marks have been stuck at below average.
I am not sure if Vajiram's philo class is ongoing, but Vajiram for some reason has been quite fluctuating in their Philo classes. They start , and then they close. So there is no real history to check for.
@neywan. Even i am facin prob in ppr 2..esp socio polit... i cant think of ne other book other dan gauba... dere is one more book by gauba...poliyical idelogies..chk it on flipkart...dunno if its gud... do u hv ne idea abt it?? WOt buks r uusing for preparin contemporary philos..dats anoder grey area f mine..
@Neyawn Can you share resources you used for P2, currently I'm following Patanjali notes .. O.P Gauba's book has been mentioned in threads but is it being used by the aspirants? what is the most reliable source?
@Neywan But thats not me...am just guessin ki dis yr marks in philo will agn be commensurate wid wot ppl score in high scorin optionals...
I hope so as well man. Ummeed pe duniya kayam hai. We need really good score to compete with people with other optionals where the toppers score 250+ With us, its like we all end up around 200, which will not get us anywhere in the final list.
In Paper - 1 , if we write well then one can easily get 110ish. But paper 2 is a huge pain. The better answers I write each year, the worse score I get.
In GS I have been able to get 310+, and 125ish in Essay so there the difference is not so high. In Philo, esp Paper 2 the gap widens with other candidates.
