I never expected that UPSC would use Google Translator for translation of Civil Services Exam papers. Chairman should be fired, even if 1 day is left for his service to make it a lesson for others.
I never expected that UPSC would use Google Translator for translation of Civil Services Exam papers. Chairman should be fired, even if 1 day is left for his service to make it a lesson for others.
So, you are saying that Google translator has not improved in last 1 year?
Google translator was used is being claimed by Verma Committee as per the article.
UPSC had translated 1 year back. Today Google might give correct translation for a particular phrase, as they keep improving. Still Google translator can't be reliable.
Its absolutely preposterous to even think that UPSC would use Google Translate for translation of papers. Firstly, when UPSC can check mains paper in Hindi then it must have people who are well versed in Hindi. I do not understand why UPSC wont use a few trusted and senior people from that group. Secondly, when Google Translate was not there how was the translation being done. Thirdly, all those words such as "lohe ka paudha" etc. being discussed and propagated in the media do not exist in the actual question paper. Lastly, Google Translate is not a human being. I imagine it will take years if at all it ever happens to actually translate any language perfectly through Google Translate.
Please do not take things being discussed in media on face value.

Bhai just download CSP 2011, 2012, 2013 PAPERS from UPSC website and look for those words. I can guarantee you that you won't find any. The only problem was that the translations had some pure Hindi words and if you do not have a sound "Hindi Vocabulary" ( Not the kind of Hindi which the news channels use which has Hindi syntax and URDU/PERSIAN vocab.) you may have a difficulty in getting the right meaning or would have to infer it yourselves.
