CSE 2015. Self study or coaching.

edited June 2014 in Coaching & Websites
I am sorry if I am re posting a question already asked.
I started preparing for CSE 2015 this June. This will be my first attempt. As of now I am preparing on my own. After reading interviews of a few selected candidates and viewing answer sheets on visionias.com I am very confused. I feel clue less. I feel my preparation will not be at par with what is expected because GS is like an ocean, never ending.

I would like to know whether I should stick to preparing on my own and such confusion and insecurities are a part and parcel of such a mammoth preparation or should I join Prep Classes. Also If I should join a class which one should it be. (Vaji, Sriram or Visios)

  • When you are a beginner and you are just embarking upon a journey such fear and confusion will occur naturally .The trick is to keep on fighting .
The very first thing that as a beginner ,confused me was what to study and what not to study .

I kept on looking for solutions to my problem & i found it in the form of a website by the name of insightsonindia.com

They have listed each and every resource to be followed for all the topics in the exam. Please chexk it out and try to follow it.I am sure a proper direction at this point will go a long way to boost your prepartion and motivational levels.

The second problem that i faced (and you too might be facing)is the answer writing skill for Mains. This skill is also learnable like every other skill on this planet .Start writing practice within few months and within a year you will be adept at it.

The third problem that i faced is the essay writing skill which is of utmosy importance if you want to make it through to thr interview stage.Essay writing again like answer writing is best cultivated through constant practice .Also a wide reading will help you in this case immensely.

Keep in mind that both answer writing and essay writing will be frustrating at first but you keep on with it and within no time you will develop a liking for it and your this skill will help you considerably in Mains.

Rest as far as Pre is concerned ,its all revision for GS and practice for CSAT.

On whether you should take coaching or not is a completely subjective question. If you feel that despite online guidance from the website i mentioned or from other such similar websites, you are still lost then please go forward and take coaching but keep in mind if you decide to take coaching please join a good one and ve ready to shell out a hefty amount of fees coupled with a no guarantee for a quality coaching .

    Hope it helps .
  • Thank you so much LuV. I shall use the website. Thank you so much.
  • Answer-writing will bear no fruit at all if your foundation itself is shaky.Lay a strong foundation till August-September.Do the basics very very well,so well that you shouldnot even have the need to revise them;then you can proceed to writing answers and other sources.Better the studies, better will be your answers.Writing answers after doing 2 or 3 odd chapters will be a futile exercise.
  • Regarding coaching,no coaching is needed once the foundation is staunch. You can buy their notes in December for value addition.
  • Thank you so much LuV. I shall use the website. Thank you so much.
Always happy to help a fellow aspirant !
