  • Bhai, last year pre result has not been yet declared. I gave this first time in 2013, and it was a bad bad experience for many reasons. Some of them are:
-At my center in Meerut, many were saying that some people help the class in filling answers, through an already available pdf in their phone.
-Too much crowd, clerical exam type
-I could not find a toilet to ease myself, had to go in a nearby home.. :P
-Last but the biggest reason is their incredibly low credibility..i think 2010 interview are still going on.

And its questions are not going to help you in CSE prep. Level is lower even than SSC CGL.

But if one has time, and is willing to go for it, then he/she has my best wishes..

(no one asked for my experience though but after seeing this thread i was compelled to share my side of pain :P ;)
  • @Almeida Your inputs are appreciated. L-)

Though ur experience was not very good and may be at ur centre it was so but it is not so for the entire state and I must say its the best job for a person from UP no matter wat!!
I am from UP so I know what a UPPCS notification means for all those 21-30 yrs old ppl studying in Allahabad and eastern part! They have nothing to do with even IAS/UPSC as UPPSC is their sole motive!

P.S : I am preparing for UPSC only but seeing at your post I thot to mention it!

I completely agree with you vasu. But what would you say about their delaying results that kill so much time of the same aspirants you mentioned (leave my center related issues). I too belong to UP and I know its value too bro, but I seriously doubt UPPSC working efficacy. UPPSC lower subordinate 2009 results are not out yet and they are taking 2013 exam. Same with Upper subordinate.
Atleast they should give the results of pre 2013. Their exam cycle takes 3 years atleast..
I dont want to sound rude but thats a bitter truth, that every govt exam whether group A, B or C or PO holds immense importance to a section of aspirants..

I doubt if school management would have been helping students fill in the answers in the prelims considering they sent candidates to totally random districts last time around. Local students from Meerut were sent to Mathura for example. Mains is a different thing altogether. There are only three centres and it is not uncommon to see answer sheets being passed around the examination room.

It is a state PSC exam with upper age limit for General category candidates at 40!! Also, there is no restriction on the number of attempts. It also happens to be the preferred exam for Hindi medium students. So there are bound to be a lot of candidates appearing for this.

The exam centres are rubbish! In my centre the male toilet was nothing more than a hole dug into the ground!! What is worse is that some of the centres have piss poor infrastructure. A friend was given a centre where classrooms did not have tubelights. You were expected to make use of the sunlight. It got cloudy and they finished the exam in near darkness.

Last but the biggest reason is their incredibly low credibility..i think 2010 interview are still going on
You are supposed to appear for UP PSC and forget about it! :-D

When my father cleared the exam in early 70s, the situation was no different. It took three years for the exam process to be completed and another one year for the training to begin. That said, since Samajwadi Government took over, there is a clear bias in favour of Yadav candidates. And that has been the major dent to this exam's credibility. UP PSC, with all its flaws, was one of the very few state PSC exams in India where merit was valued. All that has gone down the drain - first with the now withdrawn three tier reservation (thank God for Allhabad HC!) and the very high marks awarded to Yadav candidates in the interview.

And its questions are not going to help you in CSE prep. Level is lower even than SSC CGL.
I don't think the level of questions is lower than SSC CGL. Their nature, however, is different from the kind of questions asked in Civil Services. While the latter has moved towards 'dynamic' questions which test your conceptual clarity, UP PSC is all about 'static' questions which test your ratta ability. This is precisely the reason why a lot of students who clear Civil Services fail to even clear the prelims of state PSC. Both the exams require a different approach.
  • @Mandrake I agree with your view !! Anyways, do you have any idea why last year results are not out yet?
  • @Almeida Heard it will be declared post elections.
  • UPPSC k process itne lengthy hain ki below situation is nt impossible..

Notification aayi...to shadi ki baat chal rahi thi....Pre dia to shadi fix..Main k time shadi ho gai...Interview tak bache..aaur joining tak bache bhi UPPSC ki taiyari start kar chale.. :P

in 2013 pree. second paper was printed in red color, due to this few blind color aspirants complaint psc that QUESTIONS WERE NOT PRINTED PROPERLY.when psc ignored them.they moved to high court. and case is stil pending.
