After much coaxing and cajoling, I have been able to extract this transcript from one my forum friend. He is not happy with his experience and didn't want to share it himself. Although would not be of much use for this year's aspirants, but useful for posterity:

Board: Mr. Vinay Mittal.
Background: Mech. Engg. (IITR), PGDM (IIMB).
Work Ex: 44 Months (35 months Oil Refining, 9 months Real Estate, both Pvt. Sector).
Optional: Geography.
Hobbies: Reading, Tennis, Swimming.
4 Male members including Mr. Chairman, 1 Lady Member.
Chairman: C: You are working in ,,,,,,. A: No Sir, I quit my job in Jan 2013, preparing full time since then, this is my Ist attempt.
C: Why did you quit, you’ll be earning a fraction of what you were earning then, it will be a pittance! A: Answered, (money is important but not the sole criterion. Talked about responsibility to society. I had lot of responsibilities in my previous job but the social impact was nil.).
(I had read this book called "Small is Beautiful" by EF Schumacher in which the author argued that in developing countries like India, the educated elite shouldn’t treat education as a Passport to Privilege but as an Obligation to Serve. I knew this question would be asked, I don’t know why I didn’t say this statement there, could have made a huge impact. Chairman looked indifferent. I felt I could have answered this better. Not a good start I thought. Luckily he didn’t fixate on why IAS and moved on.)
C: So IFS is your second choice. So tell me what is India’s stance on Ukraine Crisis. A: (Stumped, I knew everything about Ukrainan Crisis, the underlying reasons, how events transpired from Orange Revolution of 2004, I even knew names of all persons involved Tymoshenko, Yanukovych, Yatsenyuk, Nuland, Ashton, but I didn’t know about India’s stance. Frankly I’d searched for it but only half-heartedly and it was the biggest mistake I made) Sir I don’t know much about India’s stance. But I think we have tacitly supported Russian action in Crimea. He was staring at me, in retrospect he was justified.
C: Can you tell me about India having faced a similar situation? A: Sir Kashmir?
C: No. A: Intervention in Goa?
C: No. A: Sir, Can you give me a hint? (I smiled).
C: 1971? A: But Sir, in my Opinion Indian intervention was due to different reasons. The internal situation in Bangladesh posed threat to Indian security and integrity.
At this point M1 intervened. I think this was a break from the norm, to intervene while Chairman is speaking, I was surprised, and he spoke rather sharply. M1: Do you know what India’s stand on Crimea is? A: No Sir.
M1: India has made only one statement so far, and it was by NSA who said Russia has legitimate interest in Crimea. A: Sorry Sir, I was not aware of it.
Back to Chairman: What are economic impacts of this crisis? A: Talked about sanctions, and how they have so far been limited.
C: Tell me more than sanctions. A: (Thought for a while) European esp. German investments in Russia, exposure of Russian firms to Western banks, Russian supply of Gas to Europe and how both West and Russia both will suffer because of these. (forgot to talk about austerity measures in Ukraine if it goes for IMF assistance). I was not smooth in this conversation at all. I stopped many times while speaking. The second question about India’s stand had put me on a backfoot.
M1 took over. He had a stern expression all the time. M1: Tell me about India’s space programme? A: Sir, Chandrayaan 2008, Mangalyaan in 2013, I said it will reach Mars in this later this year in November, (M1 corrected me, in September).
M1: What is the utility of Mangalyaan mission? A: Sir it is more of a capability demonstration mission. Only Russia and US have been able to successfully undertake such missions. China and Japan failed.
M1: Nothing else? A: I don’t know much Sir (Later on another aspirant told me about instruments to discover Methane)

M1: Really water on Moon? Are you sure? A: Yes sir, I read it in newspaper.
M1 looked surprised, even I doubted myself whether I was correct. M1: Ok What else? A: Sir India is planning on manned mission.

M1: What else? A: Sorry Sir I don’t know much. (I should have asked for some time to think. I knew about IRNSS, GSAT15, GAGAN, SARAL etc. but didn’t occur to me there).
M1: Do you even read newspapers? (This one was rather blunt). A: Yes Sir, although right now I feel I should have read them more carefully in a more focused manner.
(I briefly looked at the Chairman, I felt his and M1's glances were like: How did this guy even managed to reached here? Their reactions had made me nervous and I was thinking this is not how I intended this to happen. I also felt at this moment Chairman picked up my file and threw it away and picked up file of the next candidate, I’m not sure though).
M1: Do you know anything about India’s Nuclear programme? A: Sir about the weapons or the energy programme.
M1: Tell me about both. (Luckily this was my moment. I’d read a book called Power of Promise about India’s Nuclear Programme and knew a great deal about this topic). So I talked about India’s 3 stage programme, the reasons for choosing the 3 stage programme, PHWRs, FBRs and why they are called so, Planning Commission’s vision to create 250GW capacity by 2052.
Chairman intervened: Is that so? A: Yes Sir. Although given historical performance this looks rather dubious to achieve. We have to add 6-7 GW of capacity each year, that would mean 6-7 1GW reactors each year.
M1: What is share of Nuclear energy in India’s energy mix? A: Sir about 2 %. 4.7 GW out of installed capacity of 236 GW.
M1: Ok, about Weapons programme. A: Talked about Nuclear reactors dedicated to weapons programme, weapons grade fissile plutonium, and in terms of delivery capability, India’s Nuclear Triad on verge of completion with INS Arihant and K15 Missiles.
M1: What’s India nuclear Policy? A: No First Use. I wanted to explain but he said OK.
M2 M2: You worked with this Real Estate Developer, Are they same who have launched India’s most expensive residential project? A: Yes Sir, it would be India’s tallest residential building.
M2: What makes it so expensive? A: Explained.
M2: OK, What were your electives in MBA? A: Sir mostly from Economics, Finance and Strategy.
M2: What is difference between Real and Nominal GDP? A: Explained.
M2: What is Balance of Payments? A: As I was explaining, Chairman intervened.
C: But that is Balance of Trade. A: Yes Sir, BOT is a component of BOP through Current Account. Capital Account is the other component of BOP.
He again looked at me wide eyed. Seriously his looks had made me wonder whether I was wrong. When he asked M3 to take over, my doubt became even stronger, I hadn’t finished explaining BOP.
M3 was the most cheerful of them all. M3: Your hobby is reading. What do you read? A: Sir I started with Classics, but I’m more into non-fiction ...(he didn’t let me finish).
M3: Oh Classics? Like? A: Sir Ayn Rand was the first one I read, then Tolstoy, Hugo, Maugham....
M3: Ah Ayn Rand,,,, what is her philosophy? A: Talked about Objectivism and how she says Selfishness is virtuous.
M3: Do you agree? A: Partially Sir, but the types of characters she envisions and creates to justify her philosophy are not possible in real life.
M3: How? A: Sir she says Man is rational but actually Man is rationalising. Our faculties are limited by our prejudices, greed....(didn’t let me complete).
M3: So you say characters like Howard Roark are not possible in real life? A: No Sir, even more so the characters of Atlas Shrugged.
M3: About Tolstoy? A: Sir I read War & Peace and Resurrection. Critics say War & Peace is his Magnum Opus but I find Resurrection as his best creation.
M3: War and Peace is too long, isn’t it? A: Yes Sir and there are lot of distractions. Not all readers might be interested in knowing details of Battle of Austerlitz or Battle of Moscow or how History unfolds thought action of Humans.
M3: Yes I agree. Dostoevsky? A: Only Crime and Punishment Sir.
M3: Not Brothers Karamazov? Anyway Now some serious business. What is this Sahara thing going on? A: Sir they launched a scheme that they were not allowed to launch under SEBI norms, Optionally Fully Convertible Debentures, and actually this was a facade created to convert black money to white money.
M3: Who invested? A: Sir the people having Black money.
M3: Who are these people? A: (After a rather long pause, when M3 said “Say it don’t worry”) Sir mostly the political class.
M3: Is this the reason there is pressure on Judiciary? A: Sir?
M3: Did you read today’s newspaper? A: No Sir.
M3: Who are the judges handling this case? A: Sorry Sir I don’t know.
M3: Both the Judges have recused themselves from the case. (Luckily he didn’t ask further) M3: What else Sahara do? A: Sir they sponsored Indian Cricket team. For the first time Chairman laughed. He said wherever there is Indian Cricket there is a mess.
M3: Did you know what happened in Varanasi? A: Sir Mr. Modi’s rally was cancelled.
M3: Do you think that was justified? A: Sir the news reports mentioned that there was credible threat and also there were security concerns due to space constraint. So it was justified, but the administration should have been prompt to convey this to the political party and should not have allowed them to make an issue out of it.
Chairman intervened: But that’s what’s in the newspapers. That is not what actually happened. I’d read about the DM Pranjal Yadav being a relative of Mulayam Yadav but I was not sure. And given the experience I had till then, I chose to keep quiet and just nodded.
M3: What could have happened? Would you have done the same? A: Sir given the atmosphere, any incident in Varanasi could have country wide repercussions. So I would have done the same.
M3: Would you be able to work in such conditions? There will be pressure? A: Yes Sir, I would. I might find it a bit difficult in the beginning but all of us eventually learn from our experiences. Besides When I say my prayers I do not pray for an easy life, I pray for strength to endure a difficult one.
M3 glanced at me from between his glasses and smiled. For the first time I felt good. (Thanks to Bruce Lee for above statement)
L4 was a lady. L4: You are from Punjab. Why is the sex ration so skewed? A: Ma’am it’s the mindset. I tried to explain in terms of Patriarchy and Patrilineal society.
L4: But most of Indian Society is Patrilineal. Why so low in Punjab? A: Ma’am may be it is due to mindset. That the family lineage will progress only through male child. (I don’t know why I made this statement in Hindi)
L4: What’s about the mindset? A: Ma’am the false notion of masculinity in the subjugation of women. And also may be due to aggressive nature of some warrior classes. (It came out wrong, I didn't mean to say it like that, but the Chairman and the lady member were genuinely amused and laughed. Mr. Mittal chuckled saying “Warrior Class”).
L4: Have you read a report about NRI women from Punjab being murdered when they visit their native villages? A: Ma’am I knew about couple of such incidents, but I never read beyond headlines, so I don’t know the causes for the crime. I beg your pardon.
She then explained how some NRI women had come to Punjab to settle property disputes and asking for their share in their property but were eventually murdered. Even the mothers had supported the killing of their daughters. What do you think is the reason? How will address such scenario as a Civil Servant? She was speaking in a very low tone. I had to ask her to repeat. She religiously repeated everything again. I felt odd for having asked her to repeat.
A: Ma’am the reason is again the attitude towards women. And probably women too have internalized this stereotype. As a Civil Servant the first priority should be to ensure severe punishment to the culprits. Second, although it would be difficult to provide blanket security to all NRI women on visit, but they can be requested to provide info in case they are involved in any such property dispute so that there can be a security check for their well being, say, every week from the nearest police station.
Chairman: Do you think it is justified to give women equal share in parental property? A: Yes Sir.
Chairman: But don’t you think women are at an advantage. A wife gets her husband’s property as well. A: Sir earlier our society had a culture of Dowry, where the family provided gifts to the daughter at the time of marriage according to their ability. This was justified because the daughter didn't get a share in family property. But later on dowry became a tool of harassment, so it was justifiably banned. But then daughters lost out on both occasions, neither dowry nor a share in property. So this is justified in my opinion. Besides the mother’s property, which she gets from her husband will eventually be transferred to her children after her death.
Chairman: Thank you. Your interview is over.
I made some mistakes in the beginning. I stopped a lot while answering Chairman’s and M1’s questions, though it went very well with M2, M3 and L4. The first 5-10 minutes were really horrible. I could have answered well in the beginning. But the thing that is really bugging me is whether Chairman threw my file in the bin. I wasn't looking at him, I just heard him throw something and the next moment, I presume, he was picking up the next candidate's file. He was very serious in the beginning though he indeed smiled in the end. Nevertheless expecting 130-140 in best case scenario.

I think his interview has gone good only. Unfounded fear of not clearing I think. But of course his confidence matters while answering. Wrt that the marks may change.

A: Talked about Objectivism and how she says Selfishness is virtuous.
M3: Do you agree?
A: Partially Sir, but the types of characters she envisions and creates to justify her philosophy are not possible in real life.
M3: How?
A: Sir she says Man is rational but actually Man is rationalising. Our faculties are limited by our prejudices, greed....(didn’t let me complete).
M3: So you say characters like Howard Roark are not possible in real life?
A: No Sir, even more so the characters of Atlas Shrugged.
M3: About Tolstoy?
A: Sir I read War & Peace and Resurrection. Critics say War & Peace is his Magnum Opus but I find Resurrection as his best creation.
M3: War and Peace is too long, isn’t it?
A: Yes Sir and there are lot of distractions. Not all readers might be interested in knowing details of Battle of Austerlitz or Battle of Moscow or how History unfolds thought action of Humans.
M3: Yes I agree. Dostoevsky?
A: Only Crime and Punishment Sir.
M3: Not Brothers Karamazov? Anyway Now some serious business. What is this Sahara thing going on?
A: Sir they launched a scheme that they were not allowed to launch under SEBI norms, Optionally Fully Convertible Debentures, and actually this was a facade created to convert black money to white money.
M3: Who invested?
A: Sir the people having Black money.
M3: Who are these people?
A: (After a rather long pause, when M3 said “Say it don’t worry”) Sir mostly the political class.
M3: Is this the reason there is pressure on Judiciary?
A: Sir?
M3: Did you read today’s newspaper?
A: No Sir.
M3: Who are the judges handling this case?
A: Sorry Sir I don’t know.
M3: Both the Judges have recused themselves from the case. (Luckily he didn’t ask further)
M3: What else Sahara do?
A: Sir they sponsored Indian Cricket team.
For the first time Chairman laughed. He said wherever there is Indian Cricket there is a mess.
M3: Did you know what happened in Varanasi?
A: Sir Mr. Modi’s rally was cancelled.
M3: Do you think that was justified?
A: Sir the news reports mentioned that there was credible threat and also there were security concerns due to space constraint. So it was justified, but the administration should have been prompt to convey this to the political party and should not have allowed them to make an issue out of it.
Chairman intervened: But that’s what’s in the newspapers. That is not what actually happened.
I’d read about the DM Pranjal Yadav being a relative of Mulayam Yadav but I was not sure. And given the experience I had till then, I chose to keep quiet and just nodded.
M3: What could have happened? Would you have done the same?
A: Sir given the atmosphere, any incident in Varanasi could have country wide repercussions. So I would have done the same.
M3: Would you be able to work in such conditions? There will be pressure?
A: Yes Sir, I would. I might find it a bit difficult in the beginning but all of us eventually learn from our experiences. Besides When I say my prayers I do not pray for an easy life, I pray for strength to endure a difficult one.
M3 glanced at me from between his glasses and smiled. For the first time I felt good. (Thanks to Bruce Lee for above statement)
L4 was a lady.
L4: You are from Punjab. Why is the sex ration so skewed?
A: Ma’am it’s the mindset. I tried to explain in terms of Patriarchy and Patrilineal society.
L4: But most of Indian Society is Patrilineal. Why so low in Punjab?
A: Ma’am may be it is due to mindset. That the family lineage will progress only through male child. (I don’t know why I made this statement in Hindi)
L4: What’s about the mindset?
A: Ma’am the false notion of masculinity in the subjugation of women. And also may be due to aggressive nature of some warrior classes. (It came out wrong, I didn't mean to say it like that, but the Chairman and the lady member were genuinely amused and laughed. Mr. Mittal chuckled saying “Warrior Class”).
L4: Have you read a report about NRI women from Punjab being murdered when they visit their native villages?
A: Ma’am I knew about couple of such incidents, but I never read beyond headlines, so I don’t know the causes for the crime. I beg your pardon.
She then explained how some NRI women had come to Punjab to settle property disputes and asking for their share in their property but were eventually murdered. Even the mothers had supported the killing of their daughters. What do you think is the reason? How will address such scenario as a Civil Servant?
She was speaking in a very low tone. I had to ask her to repeat. She religiously repeated everything again. I felt odd for having asked her to repeat.
A: Ma’am the reason is again the attitude towards women. And probably women too have internalized this stereotype.
As a Civil Servant the first priority should be to ensure severe punishment to the culprits. Second, although it would be difficult to provide blanket security to all NRI women on visit, but they can be requested to provide info in case they are involved in any such property dispute so that there can be a security check for their well being, say, every week from the nearest police station.
Chairman: Do you think it is justified to give women equal share in parental property?
A: Yes Sir.
Chairman: But don’t you think women are at an advantage. A wife gets her husband’s property as well.
A: Sir earlier our society had a culture of Dowry, where the family provided gifts to the daughter at the time of marriage according to their ability. This was justified because the daughter didn't get a share in family property. But later on dowry became a tool of harassment, so it was justifiably banned. But then daughters lost out on both occasions, neither dowry nor a share in property. So this is justified in my opinion. Besides the mother’s property, which she gets from her husband will eventually be transferred to her children after her death.
Chairman: Thank you. Your interview is over.
I made some mistakes in the beginning. I stopped a lot while answering Chairman’s and M1’s questions, though it went very well with M2, M3 and L4. The first 5-10 minutes were really horrible. I could have answered well in the beginning. But the thing that is really bugging me is whether Chairman threw my file in the bin. I wasn't looking at him, I just heard him throw something and the next moment, I presume, he was picking up the next candidate's file. He was very serious in the beginning though he indeed smiled in the end. Nevertheless expecting 130-140 in best case scenario.
