Thing 2 ponder upon

edited January 2019 in Miscellaneous
Why there s so much premium placed on iits when majority of top talents r not from them-whether it's present isro chief or satyarth nadella or late apj Abdul Kalam??Missing contribution from nation building?Just because 1 got better guidance and workd hard 4 one-2 year, shud he/she earn so much respect?why shudnt they b forced 2 do 1 year job in India since they received subsidised studies??leave best 2-3 iits from top,we all know job reality still the tag 4 rest 1s and the mass they churn shud force one 2 ponder upon the same in post truth era!!!Plus I have personally met few wtht placements from iit roorkee especially during recession while Bangalore colleges usd 2 grab jobs.wht do u think folks???

  • The superiority/premium placed on IITs and NITs is a construct which exists only on your mind. It's not a real thing.

The modern neo liberal setup forces us to think in certain ways which is aimed to promote and reinforce hierarchy, stoke individualism and curb rebellious tendencies. Give the people falsely created psychological structures and they will stay in awe of it. Akin the 'neurlayzer' of Men in Black.

Let's think of the agencies which reinforce this awe. Coachings immediately come to mind. A business whose sole USP is based on luring people to shed money without imparting any skill !!

Ever seen sons and daughters of HNWIs going to IITs or toiling in FIITJEE?

The few who will break away from this endless drudgery of middle class will be appropriated by the selected club. And as Carlin said, 'you ain't in it'.
  • Hi, I did my BA in Global Warmth and Brotherhood Studies from IIT Delhi. It's a premium course available only to hardworking Indians.

    बहुत जलनखोर आदमी हैं दुनिया में ..

    मतलब IITians .. iim को समाज में सम्मान मिल रहा है तो उससे भी समस्या

Aapne bahot sare issues ko mix kar diya hai jo shayd ek dusre pe dependent nahi hain. Brain drain is not confined to the elite colleges. Plus koi kyu placed nahi hain despite being an iiitian/nitian can't be a parameter to judge her/his capability. The question you should be asking is whether we have jobs commensurate with the qualifications as well as interest of students from such colleges. Core sector me to hai nahi apne layak jobs. Ek do saal job interesting rehta h then stagnation. Aise me koi nation building k baare me kaise soche. Bhai/behen, aakhir infrastructure to govt provide karega na. India me opportunities do, junta khud ba khud yehi tik jaegi
  • @MINDGAME @jack_dawson

Kindly have a look here ..
here the persons are neither iit .. nor iim ..bt still are successful ..
i must say that you both r right ..

When living in a society, people tend to set benchmarks for themselves. IITs are the premier government-funded engineering colleges in India. Who made them so? The Government. And, who runs the Government? Well, the people of India. What I am trying to say is that YOU made them the best engineering colleges of India at the first place and now it's YOU who is questioning the reputation attached with these institutes!

As regards the examples given by you, well there are exceptions everywhere in the society.
It is common notion among the people that IAS and IPS officers lead a peaceful and fulfilling life. But, it isn't a fact. You may have came across several news in the past related with suicides committed by many such officers. So, doesn't matter former President late APJ Abdul Kalam is not an IIT allumni or for the same reason that guy graduated from IIT Roorkee is not employed with any multi-national company. You may take them as exceptions. :)

And no, why should they be forced to work in India! They didn't demand the subsidised studies! YOU gave them. Instead of forcing them to work in India even for the first few years, YOU should be concerned to provide them an attractive package, a great work culture, and a good place to live in. They don't have a hobby to work in foreign countries but a lack of the above mentioned things generally compel them to venture out into the overseas world. :)
