Which newspaper to refer? I have been reading IE but should I switch to Hindu, considering people say it is the ONE. I am concerned with the editorial quality in IE as it features political party reps every alternate day but people are also saying Hindu is extremely becoming oriented to the Left ideology. Please tell.
Nope. Hindu is pretty balanced. See, perumal writes columns that are exclusively capitalist (like privatization of education healthcare etc) certain writers do criticize govt policies which is reqd, while u can find pro govt stuff from yojana. The yojana hindu combo worked wonders for me.
IE to me seems pretty ghatiya stuff. Tbh, I studied it few days, but sorry, ...i didn't like it
Criticism of govt policies must be done by pvt newspapers. We already have yojana, ddnews for pro govt bias.
However if u have to listen to IT cell trolls, then they will tell u Hindu is an extremist newspaper

Doesn't matter which paper. You should be reading the newspaper to stay in touch with the current affairs. IE or Hindu, anyone will do.
"Cover issues, not ideologies."
At the end of the day, when you are making notes for mains. You will have to google and dig out information from not just Hindu or IE but also from Livemint and other such papers which you wouldn't have covered.
So just read the newspaper you want to, in order to stay in touch with the current issues. Let your eyes be on the facts, concepts, pros and cons.

I have been reading Hindustan times ( and IE but digitally) since last two years and faced no issues in pre or mains. Its a hype created by some pro left people that reading the Hindu is must for UPSC. Infact i left leading the Hindu 2 years back...being pissed by its ultra leftist orientation ( and yes you have heard right about them..they will support everything related to naxals be it saibaba, pune activist and oppose everything what current givernment does). For UPSC we need a balanced view and not just negativity towards government actions as done by the Hindu..
