Job prospects of a Color blind Electrical Engineer.

Hello all,
After my graduation, I came to realise that I am color blind.

I am ineligible for IPS, IRTS and other technical services in civil services, CAPF, power sector( I am not sure about this though)Any color blind electrical engineer who knows what are the suitable jobs in technical services like IES, and PSU. Which Sector consider color correct person? Please if anyone have any lead, help me out.

PS: I have appeared in 2016 interview in civil services with geography as optional. I am confused whether to go for PSU, M.tech or still believe that I can clear this Unpredictable Public Service commission. I am thinking about changing optional to Electrical Engineering as a backup to appear either in IES,Gate.

It ain't me

Railways, jobs involving signalling reject color blinds. BIS rejects color blinds. Same here, electronics engineer. Came to know about color blindness during AAI-ATC. If you have appeared in interview continue your course. You can pursue Mtech, but IES seems worthless for CBs. As most of the jobs wrt IES do have CB as qualifying criteria.

unfortunately you are ineligible for most of the PSU jobs as almost all of them are in mfg sector. same with IES services as well.but no probs as nabard, rbi, state psc are still there. Also, some of the SSC jobs like MEA are as good as PSU jobs.

It is a problem only if you are sold on IRTS, IPS or security related job. Otherwise, not an issue.

Look at it this way. If you are otherwise getting IPS from CSE, with colour blindness you may have to settle for IRS-IT or C&E. Doesn't seem to be a bad choice. If you are otherwise getting IRTS, with colour blindness you may have to settle for IRAS or IRPS. So what?

In IES, if you are otherwise getting IRSEE, you may have to settle for IRSS. Remember that that previous Chairman of Railway Board (who is ex officio Principal Secretary) was from IRSS.

The point is that you may have to settle for one rung below the generally opted choice at your rank. But then there are not strict watertight hierarchies among CSE and IES jobs. In every batch you will find few people who have opted against the conventional wisdom out of their own personal choice.

Bhai, theres a lot more services. Dont whine and repent about the things that are gone. Ah, color blindness doesnt stop you from IAS/IFS , doesnt stop you from a job, and importantly never stops you from enjoying life to its fullest potential.

You have UPSC, Banks, CGL, Mtech, and a plethora of options. Walk what path you will.
