Is philosophy doomed now?

I have been giving mains since last 2 years and both year philosophy was butchered ....Last year highest rank was 94 and this year it seems 100+ ...Not only this.. the no. of students writing philosophy is increasing but selections are v.less in these 2 years...i am not confident about philosophy this year and thinking of skipping this attempt and change my optional.... Please help philosophy people

  • Yes change it..one my friend wrote 3 mains with philosophy not selected thz yr she is selected with anthropology
  • yes..philosophy has been doomed for ever.....even Athar topped due to his non-philo marks
  • If you want to become an IAS officer, change as fast as possible and don't look back. I have been telling as many people as humanly possible to stay away but somehow there are always new people who get trapped inside the black hole that philosophy is.

It's a great subject but you can say bye bye to IAS unless there is scaling, which hasn't been there in 2016 and 2017.

The choice to appear or not is yours. Even I have filled philosophy. Got my 2nd preference IRS-IT this time with philosophy and rank of 267. So for me only a double digit rank is going to cut it next year, I don't see myself getting a double digit rank with philosophy to be honest. Have no motivation to study at the moment.
