I think it's a pretty emotional issue for many and, going by the discussion in one of the threads a few months back about petition to UPSC about increasing attempts, I think it is difficult to get into merits and demerits of the arguments of protesters without the debate becoming volatile.
My only hope is that the political exigencies of the time (after yesterday's results, Congress must be ready to appease every single interest group) at least do not affect the current cycle. That would be very unfortunate.
