With so much hype going on around cryptocurrencies these days, is it worth investing in them. Or is it a bubble waiting to burst ?

PS: This thread is just meant to gather some insights. Also this could be useful from interview perspective.

  • I have made investment in crypto. Have ethereum, LTC as well as BTC in my portfolio. Returns have been great. I personally dont think it is a bubble. Just a small tip, BTC is at its all time high right now, so it is very difficult to invest such amount. Look out for LTC and MIOTA. I brought a few ltc for Rs. 5000 per ltc a few days back and now it is trading at Rs. 11000 approx.
Look out to buy LTC when it reaches 8000 and you will thank me later.
  • @andy133 which site do you recommend for trading
  • @andy133 which site do you recommend for trading
    Koinex
  • Too much speculatory to be considered a safe bet..
    NO
  • I don't have an inkling about how cryptocurrency works but I always had one question about it. How much acceptability does crypto has in India? Everyone seems to be interested in buying bitcoins and presumably they buy to sell later. But imp question is : once this buying spree reaches a saturation , where are you going to spend or sell those bits. You probably cant buy consumer goods through it , at least not in India. Though if you are interested in illegal stuff and have the balls to take risks , you can definitely spend it on the dark web to buy AK 47, mdma, to hire a contract killer, child porno etc. Apart from this I don't see any other avenue for bitcoins
PS: interestingly Venezuela has launched it's own Petra cryptocurrency , so if you become Ambani of crypto in some foreseeable future , you can use ot to buy crude oil from Maduro regime

You never reveal the quantity of cryptos you have. No one wants a Mt. Gox to happen with them

come on, the amount of bitcoins one has is simply not enough information for something like Mt. Gox to happen with them.
    I have = 0.000389 bitcoins.
  • i have invested in bitcoins and profit is very good. I started with buying bitcoins worth 10k in my college days. Long term investment is best option. The value has increased a lot especially this year. Last december you could buy 1btc for 50k or so. Now it is worth Rs. 8 lakh 60 thousand when i'm writing this. Three days back its value reached even Rs. 11 lakhs Yesterday it was trading for Rs.9090900

So you see it is volatile but in long term the value sees a sharp rise. It's risk but returns are very good. More capital is being infused at the moment by big companies so you can expect further value rise.

It is bubble or not, that time will tell. I use blockchain wallet and coinsecure. I also use bitcoins at some betting sites to make occasional profits. I believe its value has still scope of increase. Start with small sum like rs. 2000 and see yourself how you feel about it. If you don't like it then cash out

I have about 13.206 bitcoins with me. If you are planning to invest in bitcoins, join facebook group called Bharat Finance, it is quite active and you will get support.

I had total of 30 bitcoins ( 5 years ago) but sold half of them at throway prices as i didnt know what to with it. I had got all bitcoings at around 20,000 rupees four years back from a friend who was into bitcoins and had taken money from me. That person is there on forum, and he doesnt disclose how many he has.

let me tell you bitcoins value is very high these days, and i dont think it is good time to invest. i personally never invested, but merely got it from someone, so i did not know its importance .
