How many people on an average take exemption from Foundation Course(FC) for a CSE Attempt

edited November 2013 in Miscellaneous
Hi All,

I was looking at the number of exemptions granted from attending FC and it added to some 70+150+70 = 300 around in the 3 lists I saw for Mussourie, Hyderabad and Bhopal.

How many rankers in general avail this opportunity every year. Is the number always around 300 out of 900?

    Total some 400 + (Mussourie + Hyd + Bhopal + Nagpur)

23 from the reserved list. That means something around 370 general candidates take exemption. There is no fixed number or cap as such. It varies every year.
  • @Partho

I did not look at Nagpur list, But I understand the number varies but is it usually that high, if you see 370/500 candidates in General is a very big number.

So, I was asking is the ratio usually that high every year.
  • @Thor @Partho Please guide,

    1. When you take an exemption from FC and join it the following year, does it have any bearing on your seniority etc when you finally enter service?

    2. Can you postpone your FC more than one time?
  • Why are we discussing this.....before mains......i think we should continue this after 8 dec 6 pm

yaar, I was looking at the number of repeaters this year. 370 rankers writing the exam again for betterment. So, it is like they already cracked it and by standard premise have better chance than us. So, I was looking from the competition perspective.

Isliye pucha ki har saal itne log try maarte kya betterment ka, I know few people repeat but Imagine 370 out of 500 GC candidates - that is a huge number.

FC kab , kaise uske baare mein to I am not even asking at all.
  • oh ok ok.....got it sorry....for it

If you go by this logic, then first timers should give up by default. But as has already been stressed, this year provides the best chance for freshers. The previous rankers cant do with just 'incremental prep'. It is the closest we will ever get to a level playing field. So just tighten your belt for the next one month and think of all this after that.

PS: BTW, even I have heard that this year is some sort of a record for the number seeking FC exemption :-SS
  • Hum log analyse karte hai rahenge.......and previous rankers select ho jayenge....isliye shanti se padho...we will do this after mains 2013....us k baad aur kuch kaam bhi nahi hai.....

expected cutt off for mains 2013 and interview question ye do forum khul jayenge ha ha =))

I agree with @asim , so much so that I think UPSC should declare a new mains syllabus every year; frankly, its a great leveler.
