India is renowned for wasting it's talent ..I dont think African nations provide better infrastructure in football bt they Are performing outstandingly...Any one remember in 2014 jharkhand gals were runner up in international football competition ..No one know where are they??..Bas is country me cricket cricket jaisa game promote karo ...Ye news wale bhi kabhi light ni dalte wo gals kahan gayin jo barefoot jharkhand me practice karke international level pe itna accha perform kiya...
1. Africa has hosted a Men's FIFA World Cup. India hasn't yet.
2. Africa doesn't have to compete with the jynx of Cricket when it comes to popularity and funding.
Vicious Cycle -
A sportsperson needs money and infrastructure to practice at a level that can make him win an Olympic Gold or World Championship.
Money comes from Sponsors and State, and infrastructure from State.
Neither gives 2 hoots to someone who hasn't won an Olympic medal and/or World championship already.
And the vicious cycle continues.
God willingly, if some hero emerges out defeating all odds, even then, State doesn't invest in the root level infrastructure but gives away prize money to sportspersons for quick photo ops. No state on earth awards as much prize money to it's Olympic medallists as much as India does.
Biggest sporting talent ever that got ruined by India. Watch this 6 minute documentary. Vijender, thanks to his Olympic medal, was treated like a diamond by Government. And he could afford top class training for Pro Boxing at Manchester.

He did qualify for Commonwealth Games though, at 17. Could have won Olympic medal too. But his career was cut short by corrupt officials. That's what I wanted to highlight. (from 1:40) And yes, Olympic medal does ensure that one's technique is solid. And each and every pro boxer was once an amateur. Some turn pro after winning an Olympic medal. Some before that. That wasn't the issue I highlighted. It's the office politics that deprived Pradeep Singh of his Commonwealth place. And he missed out on all the resources had he been allowed to play as an amateur till a commonwealth /Olympic medal. 2 titles he won at pro itself speaks for his potential.
Mike Tyson turned pro at 18. Never played Olympics.
Current undefeated WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker never played Olympics.
Manny Pacquiao turned pro at 16. Hardly played amateur at a level of any significance.
And yeah, Vijender did Fugly. Manny Pacquiao sings and is a statesman.
Mayweather - boxing and nothing else. That's why - 50 wins. 0 losses. And the Richest Sportsperson.

And Sushil Kumar Antil, the wrestler, lived in a room with a miserable condition pre Beijing. Post Beijing, everything changed. See, even if 1/10th of the prize money was invested in their training and living conditions, there could've been many more Sushils, way before 2008.
