[Doubt] How imp is to mention Philospher's name and book's name while writing answers in Pol.Sci?

edited October 2013 in Political Science
How important is to mention philosopher's name and his work while explaining a view point. I am able to understand the concept well but it seems very difficult to remember names. :((
will it have huge impact while awarding marks?
I am new Pol.sci (from engineering bkgrnd). As of now I am paying little attention to names. Please suggest whether I need change my startegy and put extra effort to remember them.
Thanks in advance :)>-

  • Admitted . Its difficult to remember those European names . But it will create an impression definitely in the minds of examiners . Since in Science you can state any Laws to prove your point , accordingly . However , in Humanities its just the quotes or naming the proponents could do .

Would provide a suggestion , learn it thats it . And you are not supposed to inundate answers with philosophers either .

    So Practice :)>-
  • @jayanth...in my humble opinion,if u are facing problems in remembering those names of great philosophers whom u come across while reading pol sc material,u can keep a tab on them by writing out there names and there contributions or there famous quotes on a sheet of paper or in your rough notebook any where or anyway u want according to your convenience..next everyday u can devote just 10 minutes looking at that paper so that at the end u will roughly remember 75 % of the names and all about them that u have wrote at the first place..this would be an easy exercise..it would help u quote them anywhere whether in your pol sc questions or even in an essay wherever u feel u can incorporate it..try and see..i hope it helps and would be effective to u..tc.. ;) :)>-
  • Thanks @Vibin @abhi8738 for ur suggestions. I'll definitely give it a try. :)>-
