Return of investment for ancient and medieval history

How to cover A&M history portion fully for prelims? I have completed the standard NCERTs-6,7,12 and old NCERTs so I have a decent understanding of the subject. However UPSC regularly throws googly in A&M portion by asking questions like the Persian wheel,Kakatiya kingdom and all those out of the sky questions. Should I study the topics from more sources or just limit the books, focus and revision and not worry about those random questions?I like A&M history the least out of all the topics because it has very few concepts but a lot to memorize and even then UPSC can ask something very trivial which people don't pay attention to. So in the end does it help me in the long run to dedicate time to study from more sources?
