Note: Decision not because of Nandini. Decided way back in May when they announced pre cum mains batch.
My requirements that I look for in coaching:
1. Need a study environment. (I'm a self study kinda person so much that in my final year of grad I skipped 80% of classes due to extra curricular activities and depended on google+books to ace it.) I have discovered the main fault in my studies that I have become so inefficient. Reason being lack of study environment. No one I know is preparing for this exam and theres no coaching institutes here.Lack of guidance could be compensated by quora, insightsonindia and forumias. But lack of study environment cant. I need a library or anything which isnt available here. Oh please.
2. I need guidance. I mean I trust insights so much that practically I have been following all their GS1-GS4 strategies. I was following
#killerqueen #seed16 #mangodolly #other members of previous mains one hour challenge startedby
#irwa. Their preperation kind of scares me. Because I couldnt bring out the best in me yet. Not even 30% of my best.
3. Online test series dont motivate me enough. It had mtoivated me in mains (visionias- I had managed even top 10 there) but gave literally just ONE test in prelims that too insightsonindia.
4. Too many functions, family programmes, etc had made me lose my direction. days turned to weeks and weeks to month. My home just doesnt keep me focused due to maybe over friendly parents. (they are damn supportive and pampering) I need a peer group. I feel so.
5. I am good at interviews and mains (or so I believe) but not good at prelims. I dont seem to be focusing on prelims POV and need strong direction here.
6. I am from South India. My parents would never send me to Delhi and have already agreed to send me to bengaluru. Costs or finance isnt a problem for me. (age and attempts too and would be giving june attempt just for practical experience. Just to make myself strong.)
7. My intuition. I know various coaching institutes in south India but my strong intuition says insights is where I belong.
But on the other hand these are somethings demotivating me:
1. I had prepared directly for mains and lack mcq practice.Maybe Im very good at mains. But insights says their enterance test will be objective.(they said basic level. Maybe ncerts and pt365 would suffice. Please guide.)
2. I really dont like insights CA. I mean its good no offence there but vision monthly CA are so better that I dont feel like reading insights CA. Would I be required to study this?
( I love 9pm brief for PT)
3. (I love self study so much.) Insights says that their classes would be on alternative days. 3 days a week maybe. Hence its the best for me. But would it be wise to join traditional coaching?
Please guide seniors? which way to go? I'm really tensed here.
Maybe a life decision is to be made here.
Comments
I trust my intuition which says insights is genuine. But atleast ill get guidance and it is all that i need.
But is there really any added advantage in ditching traditional coaching and joining for guidance programmes? Comment Please! Thanks!
Rest guidance and all is just propaganda. I have spent more than a year at insight( pre test series + after pre his mains test series )
He gives more pref to people who are already selected. Or at least given interviews .
Same is the case with iasbaba.
They just bask in the glory of others individual effort.
Yes,yes he will say core batch had only new students. But that was a farce. People won't say it that's all.
Plus most of guys at insights are people who already have enuf knowledge about exam and are just looking to break the monotony of studying at home.
But one good thing about insight is their prelims test series. I can vouch for that. Its brilliant esp if you're new to the game.
My opinion is, if you stay in Bangalore. Join insight for test series
Else join tried and trusted institutes in Delhi or chennai.
If I was you. I wouldn't join something new and take risk my career.
If Vinay doesn't take risk with new candidates, why would you/I take risk with new institute ??
*Views are personal and maybe prejudiced, because even once upon a time, I looked up to insights/Vinay with glitter in my eye.
Insight pre test series very good.
Library I heard is good. I prefer reading at alone in my room tho.
Guidance at insight is all bs.
No idea about coaching at insight
All the best , take the decision which you feel is best @WarriorLadySita .
*no more posts about the mentioned institute from my side. I have already said more than I should.
Thank you so much bhai for this detailed view. All the best for pre.
