Powers of women commissions with respect to issuance of warrant

Do women commissions have power to issue a warrant, if summons are ignored?

Comments

  • It is a quasi judicial body so I don't think so. However I feel a toothless body is of no use. It should have powers to issue warrants.
  • As of now, they don't have such powers. Amendments to strengthen it are proposed time and again, yet no success has been achieved.

In the above mentioned link, it is an "interpretation" of Manipur HC. Statute gives no such power to NCW. It can take help of state agencies only.

Bhai, if you have created a thread, it's not necessary that you need to participate as well. But atleast have some decency to thank the participants who answered your queries. That sends across a good message. You have not done so, thus far. You only extract from the members without even acknowledging them. And I hate freeloaders like you, and would really like to shout a "FUCK YOU" to your types but since forum rules does not permit us to abuse, I would abstain from doing so.

PS: I'm never ever participating in any threads created by freeloaders.
  • Nahi hai...salman khan ne aise hi udayi thi women commission ki.tab dunia ko Pata chala ki koi power nahi hai women commission k pass...and for obvious reasons too, warna most politicians would be in jail.

    Hey,
You are correct that I haven't thanked anyone, yet. (if your "thus far" is for this thread)
This is the first time I have looked at all the answers on this thread, so I was planning to do what you've just suggested once I'm done reading them.

Forget about forum rules, abusing anyone is a punishable offence under IPC, and I happen to have read it quite well, so I'll suggest you not to do that (though, you have already done that)

Also, I would like to thank you for correcting my conduct on this forum. Though I would have understood your point without you using the expletives that you used.

    Okay.
    But that was long back,no?

Maine abhi padha ki Swati Maliwal has suggested that all women commissions have powers to issue warrant, and abhi tak none of them was aware of this provision that they had such a power!!
She also took advice from Indira Jaisingh in writing.
Also, read above link of Manipur HC on this issue.

    Hey,
What do you mean by 'interpretation' here?
Interpretation is of the statute only, no?
  • It's a toothless body dude-check wiki
