India needs Vivekananda today more than anytime.and that too not one ,two,but crores of Vivekanandas.friends read his lectures from book lectures from colombo to almora.it will really infleunce the way we think,in a positive manner obviously.

Swamiji contributed to the growth of nascent nationalism in India. He believed that in service of people is the service of divine. Also one strand of his thought abhorred individualism and supported communitarian ethos.
Best way to celebrate Swamiji is to contribute to nation-building by tirelessly and selflessly working towards national progress in all spheres. And to shun egoism and hedonistic individualism in dealings with fellow Indians.

I tried reading many books on him but couldnt understand why is he so overhyped. Only thing I like is visit to Sri Ramakrishna ashram and meditate. Except few quotes I dont like much about him. Can someone try to explain why youth of today adore him so much? Or is this hypocrisy? Yeah few quotes are good but anyone can nake them. I see his follower and non follower sharing same values most of the time. Is praising Vivekananda symbol of new 'cool' today?
