Doubt regarding relevance of coaching

edited October 2016 in Miscellaneous
I am in Delhi just for doing chemistry coaching and for that I have joined DIAS chemistry. But I think I am not gaining anything from coaching since I am not able to keep pace with the teacher as my basics are not that clear. Earlier people advised me to join coaching to make MY BASICS CLEAR. But the net outcome is that I am completely torn between reading books according to my pace or follow the coaching blindly and in toto I am not gaining anything substantial. So whether should I continue my coaching or should I leave for my home and there I prepare myself. Kindly advise. Further any advice to make my coaching more beneficial is welcome.

If you have paid for it, and unless you can guarantee that you will study more at home, you must stick and get as much out of it as you can.

Chemistry is not an easy subject IMO. The problems may be with your choice of Chemistry maybe. I am in touch with a few chemistry folks and beyond the usual rant against coachings as a whole, I did not find anyone being very negative on DIAS.

Again, I do not know the teacher. So I may be between partially to completely wrong.

RK Singh sir is good no doubt.....rather due to my weak basics I was not able to cope up with his pace .....ya you are right I might not remain focussed at home....better I should talk to sir and tell my problem....thnx for replying
  • Go and talk to him, present yourself as a vulnerable at-loss kid. He would suggest something for sure.

You can also target finishing 50-60% of topics he is teaching. It will be better than trying everything and getting nowhere. Plus, th best prepared are also 80-90% prepared. That shall help.

thank you very much....your insight would be really helpful for me.
  • Spend an hour a day revising basics.Keep going to coaching.Make notes religiously.Note down whatever he teaches and also any small point you think you may forget later on.Daily basic study plus detailed notes will surely help.

This is a common problem I faced during JEE prep.I gave up coaching and wasted time at home while a friend did what I have said above.
