  • its tough , if u haven't taken coaching or have law background. You won't be able to appreciate minor differences.
  • I am also preparing for 2017 with law optional. I am pursuing LLB. With a year to go, law can be really tough with no background in law. It is quite techinal subject. So, starting from scratch is going to be really difficult.

It will be suicidal for you rather go with political science or public administration if you are interested in polity because writing law answers for civils mains is totally different ball game for you since you have not done law and not familiar with legal jargon and technical intricacies

Yes it is tough. Syllabus is lengthy. But you have ample of material to refer, everything from case material to lots of books, it is all available and a couple of coaching institutes as well, though not excellent sorts. Depends on why you got inclined for it in the first place. If it was merely upon seeing some familiar terms in syllabus, mains question paper that familiarity can stem from general terms in polity and newspapers. Then you are mistaken. But if you like law, that is another matter. why not take a book of Constitutional law or administrative law or international law or criminal law and look if you can study it? Read blogs of toppers..

Be it any optional paper, they all have some peculiar thing when you study for it. They all require as much as hard work that can be. you will face hurdles in all of them unless you know your optional very well. Time shall not be a constraint however, if you begin now. There have been people who are new to law and yet have aced the exam. Any optional will turn into a suicidal choice, if you don't give it what it demands ;)
  • Thank you all for your input and well articulated @RowdyRousey Decided to stick to Pub Ad.Best of luck.
