I came across pamphlet in newspaper which mentioned of Prof S N Rath who takes answer writing practice daily for 6-7 questions for all GS 1,2,3&4. He claims he will make students write almost 50 essays. Also he has done his MA in Pol Sci so he can also give 2- 3 days for PSIR. I visited his place (home), was impressed initially but not sure if he is genuine guy. Can anybody throw some light ? He charges Rs.9000/- MONTH.
Ha ha ha , better not to join him. If you want to know why , in brief all I can say about him is that he is a frustrated , saddist, retired DU professor who claims, having done double MA . He even runs self guidance prog at vision india ! he will try to allure you with sweet talks. But be aware!
Ps- once I accidentally visit vision india ( not vision ias)with one of my friend. He asked us to join his test series for pre and started asking 4-5 very factual questions back to back ( PO Types) , even started crticizing vajiram , vision and mohanty's synergy. Moreover he claimed, toppers from DU after doing upsc coaching from other institute's are later coming to him for self guidance prog as he guides well.
After coming out we were like , acha hua khud se hi ussne sach sach bata diya ki don't join me :-):-)
Same Bad experience......! First of all, when you call him up, he would say that he takes only ten students and you are either the last or second last one and after meeting you, if he is not happy with you, he will not take you...He would say this is not a class but personal tuition...one to one Daily Interactive session....Besides, there is a high probability that he would receive 1 or two calls of students in 1-odd hour with students informing him that they would not come today....blah...blah...blah...! Guys, he would create all sorts of hype that an idle, jobless person can create......!
He will make you fearful citing many books which are commonly referred by UPSC candidates for GS papers, thinking that he is the only one holding patents of those books....... According to him, the writers of the book-" Oxford Companion to Politics in India- edited by Niraja Gopal Jayal and Pratap Bhanu Mehta are his juniors in DU.......lolzzzzz. Then, he said Gaurav Aggarwal was taught by him....when he ended with his selling speech, I pestered him to reveal how Gaurav Aggarwal was associated,,,,,The answer comes-that Gaurav just met me once before prelims....Hahahaha.....as if Gaurav Aggarwal came to seek his blessings and then only he was able to get Rank 1. In between the discussion, he would ask you to pick up the practice answer scripts of some students to show how much answer writing practise he makes you go through...but the moment you read a single question given by him to write on, anyone who has written Mains once would understand that the questions are below-UPSC level.
He would criticize Synergy's Mohanty, M. Puri and other institutes ruthlessly as if they have snatched bread and butter from his mouth!! Bythe way,I think he was himself shunted out by Vision India IAS institute!!!
His selling speech continued very impressively...... He would say he would give you fixed independent slot for 2 hours everyday for 5 days week for Political Science for Rs 7500 per month for 7 months course i.e. equal to Rs. 52,500 (more than Shubhra Ranjan's course fee for Political Science and IR at Vajiram and Ravi) for only giving you a few questions to write everyday and then correcting them. And if you ask about teaching Political Science thinkers, he would say "read the book here in front of me and then write the answers; if then, he feels that you have not written properly, he would explaint it to you from the book...." On this, I personally feel that he himself is not thorough with the thinkers!!!! When I tried to inquire his knowledge about thinkers deeply, he switched to general topics of Political science like- Difference between Presidential system and Parliamentary system- that too, he explained wrong!!!!
I think i have narrated my experience of a personal interaction with him lasting 1 hours and 30 minutes sufficiently even though there is more to it!!!!

lol...his methods were funny to me.. my grandpa use to do that to me ( make me read book before him loud and write ans) when i was in primary ... just got nostalgic.
