Dear frnds.. Mid may thread of mine regarding forming a grp(physical) in delhi to prepare this humongous optional received credible response but due to proximity of prelims it didn't kicked-off.
Now as the interregnum is over its hightime we must ccollaborate asap...
Hey did anyone take tests from manikant singh in mukerjee nagar?
I took last year. only four tests. If you have english medium he probably isn't even checking as I was awarded marks for wrong answers.so took only two tests. I'll suggest peer review as best option.
E.H. Carr Once said that history is a never ending dialogue between the past and the present. but I will add to this that it is a dialogue between the past and the present at the same time outlining and crafting our coming future and if you are an IAS aspirant with History as an optional it fits on you even better. If you asked me (few nerds who actually love this subject) it is not a dead or mundane subject but extremely enlightening and lively. Plus UPSC demand Hon. level understanding of the subject , so unfortunately whether willingly or not you also have to generate atleast like if not love for history. So invoke some affection for the subject. Have dates with Upinder Singh and shirin moosvi. N Start showing some respect to it. Think abt it talk abt it. N finally fasten your seat belts and get ready for this riveting and bumpy journey called life sorry cse...
Khair lets move ahead
Few general ideas...
# It will be a time bound venture that is 10 WEEKS even if it misses out the target.
# punctuality , integrity and wholehearted dedication is the key as in a collaborative venture where everybody relies on each other trust along with accountability counts.
# it is not an answer writing session (which can be done later individually / test series) but a mode to enrich our knowledge.
# the plan of action is crafted after due brainstorming and discussions ; suggestions are invited but no overarching overhauling is allowed.
# proper schedule (a fixed space and day , to be decided) will be followed by everyone diligently , though the first meeting will be on next saturday.
Plan of action:-
# based on fayol's principle of division of work, the entire syllabus is divided into topics and subtopics (not necessarily in original order) in order to gain specialisation.
# each member will be allotted a topic for a week in which he/she is expected to refer to credible and standard sources and in the light of the questions provided to him /her; will craft a concise yet insightful lecture/presentation on it, which will be delivered within the stipulated time(10-15 min).
# By credible and standard sources, I mean Approaches. A single topics say land grant can be seen through different perspective. for UPSC at least three nationalistic, Marxist and subaltern are necessary.
# members will provide that gist of lectute prepared to others in either hard or soft copy.
# interjections will only be allowed to add value and not for wasting time (a scarce commodity) # group can be pruned based on the performance of the member (so no scope for impunity) poor performance only means elimination
# the time frame/deadline is an essential motivator. it will annihilate laziness and will keep one enthusiastic.
# members are free to leave whenever they want but will not be inducted again.
# though it seems too Rigid and professional but folks we are coming together for a purpose and not for anything else.
# before the first meeting members are expected to self declare a topic for themselves in which they are comfortable and up on which they will present their initial lecture.
