  • I have done GS course from Raus and the same teacher teaches in both gs and subject.
I find the teacher very good, as he has a strong grip on the subject and his pattern of teaching is awesome. But je discourages doubts in class and he is very rude. So, if your concentration is good and you understand things taught well at first go I would suggest you join it, else not.
But I really found him one of the best as he made everything conceptual and easy to understand, I was really scared of geography before his classes.

I second that. He has solid knowledge base in Geography . He takes both GS and optional class. As Rohit has pointed out,he is quite rude ,but also cracks a lot of cheap jokes in class. Its sometimes irritating. But ,some of my friends of Geography optional say that he teaches very well in class.

If i would ignore the -ve points ,then ,yes he teaches very complex things in a simpler and crystal clear manner.
  • I have a question on RAU Geography study material.Would you recommend it for preparation? Can you suggest other options.

If you are talking about Geography optional study material ,then i do not have idea.As ,i have taken only GS coaching from there.
  • the study material of Raus is fact rich .
yet to be updated according to latest trends.
sir is good but as has been said before "can bore you to death".
in-fact for some reason all geography teacher are similar in that sence( at-least the ones I know).

  • @Swati85 if u really want study material... why dnt u take the shabbir's (vajiram)...so far i hvn't heard any negative feedbck of this teacher....(for others u may find divided views).....u may find them from rajinder nagar.....even neetu's notes/study material are gud.....alok ranjan's notes/study material i don't know... u have to dig a little bit more ....in this forum....

@Swati85 @ambitieux i had also done coaching from rau's gs + pub.ad ( june 2011 morning batch)......now my optional is not pub.ad not even geography.....i had given them my hard earned money after resigning....what they did, given me 1962 - 1982 material.... no relevance to present trends.....thnk god the pattern change now they have to make afresh notes.... but i must tell u except their 2 or 3 teachers ( history, geography,) abt everything else lyk management, study material, their faculty, .......... rau's sucks!!.....how come a polity teacher wont mention the lakshmikant when he himself teaching every single word from it.... how come 'their' pub. ad notes are total copy paste of ignou... how come history teacher deny the imprtance of chandra's NCERTS and recommend a shit!!...in their economy study material u will find defintions.... lyk i am having viva in a month or two... :-?? .thnk god i went to mukherjee nagar to buy lakshmikant and then i realizes what the real ias preparation is.... i bought vaji, shri ram xeroxed notes...any many and really thnked my friend who shifted m.n to study sociology...from the same rau's faculty..... i left rau's in august and started preparing my self...

i can write the most devastated experience from them.... but here one can't abuse others...all i can say that my foundation was so damn weak... in my initial days...when u have the highest level of enthusiasm..energy everything...rest people are divided....in their views... but do compare.... u will find me correct !!.....all in all those 'were' the days...... :| if i offended any one m sorry....but i kept things 'above' to a minimum.....controlling my nerves.....

    @venom -

Ha ha,man chilax! "Ab pachtao kya hout jab chidiya chug gai khet ".

Anyways ,one thing that i have understood in one year is no coaching centre be it Raus/vajiram/sriram etc can guarantee you a seat in IAS.Only hardwork is paid. So,nothing matters at the end of the day if result comes +ve.

Don't regret.Take that as an experience.

    All the Best . :)

    raus sucks!
history faculty there dictates such bullshit spellings of historians( for Herodotus and Deimachus) that even Google returns with zero search results!
Pathetic place with even more pathetic teachers.
    waste of money.
perhaps the only good thing was that their classes were small and comfortable.
